I like how you mentioned that you can print your social security information. It is important to have this on hand in case you need it. My brother needs help with his social security insurance, so I wanted to look into it for him. https://rgglaw.net/practice-areas/social-security-disability/

I’m curious as to why when using My Soc Sec Account it does not allow me to request a replacement card online. Recently Georgia was added to the list of acceptable states, but mine still says contact the local office. This implies that I may have the same issue, in a few years, when I apply for Medicare?

I need to now more about claiming from my exspouse to whom I was married for over 20 years. I am now 72 and claiming under my own name. As a student and homemaker, I stupidly worked as a home baby sitter and odd jobs.
He had funds moved from our savings and Social Security –moved them into his Federal Government retirement. At our divorce, I was supposed to get a share of his retirement. His social is I believe for Robert Lewis James.
Can you please help me find our what to do? I need to cut back on work for health reasons and age.
    thank you. Linda Gibson

    • A.C.

Hi, Linda. For your security, we do not have access to private information in this venue. To be eligible for divorced spouse benefits, you had to be married to your former spouse for at least 10 years, and you cannot be eligible for a higher benefit on your own record. For more information, visit our Benefits Planner: If You Are Divorced. For specific questions about potential benefits, please call us at 1-800-772-1213, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., for assistance. Generally, you will have a shorter wait if you call later in the day. You can also contact your local Social Security office. We hope this helps.
