Commissioner of Social Security Shares Update about COVID-19 Economic Impact Payments for Beneficiaries

“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.
The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.
Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

I am a senior non filer with SSI & Surviors benefits that get directly deposited in my bank account monthly (no Children) its 4/28/2020 and still no direct depost is this a problem?

Same boat as well. Use the non-filers tool on the 12th and accepted by the IRS the same day to file my two dependents and that payment is not included in my stimulus payment that’s pending in my bank.

Not sure what’s going on. I am on SSDI. I have a pending payment for the date 4/29 showing in my bank account of only $1200. I did the “Get My Payment” tool and included my dependents on 4/10/20, 12 days before the deadline. It was accepted by the IRS the same day! Yet the money was not included in my stimulas payment. 1k loss! All these hurdles to file online only amd no follow through by the IRS! Does anyone know if there is a planned 2nd deposit going through for missed dependents? It would be unfortunate if we must wait til 2020 tax filing to get that payment when most of us aren’t required to file.

IF YOUR DIRECT EXPRESS CARD HOLDER IT WILL GO ON THERE MAY NOT PEND…DUE TO IT’S A TREASURY DEPOSIT NOT A SOCIAL SECURITY DEPOSIT…
AND BANK ACCOUNT DEPOSITS SAME THING..

Kinda did help, irs page said last wk ssdi should get it by 29th april n ssi first wk of may , so now its 29th thru may first wk? I get SSI and SSDI.will I get $1200
payment.. or the difference of my ssdi which is $542 a month and SSI of $261 for a total of $803 monthly I’ve heard we are getting the difference only please help
