“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

I hope someone can answer this question…I’ve read a lot and I’m getting different answers as the days go on..
    Here is my question.
I am on SSI and I have NO DEPENDENTS. I also have Direct Deposit. When will I see my check in my BANK ACCOUNT?
    THANK YOU
    Lisa

    • Bridget

They are saying the first week in May.

  2. Shannon T.

I get SSI and sda when will I get my direct deposit of 1200

  3. Stopthemadness

Please stop penalizing people for getting SSI, or welfare and food stamps, first and foremost everybody’s got to eat, people have families, not every person receiving money from SSA qualify to get ssdi, some people get both, SSI and ssdi, not every person takes their money to buy drugs or alcohol, believe it or not there are decent people among the poor, who just like you want a better life for themselves and their families, and here’s a shocker SSA is one big pot, so no matter which side of the pot you getting yours from it’s still the same pot, it’s understandable people are anxious over this virus, sky high food prices, the stay at home order, and the distribution of this stimulus money, but it’s life, eventually IRS and SSA will get back to their normal business and you can hash out your issues with them instead of attacking people who has nothing to do with what’s going on with you..

    • Earl k.

Try irs.gov it is working for some SSI claimant’s. This is new just started working earlier today

    • A.C.

Hi, Connie. Treasury, not Social Security, will be making automatic Economic Income Payments to eligible people. Unfortunately, we do not have information about the exact schedule for these payments. Treasury anticipates these payments to go out to Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries starting around the end of April and to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients starting in early May. Continue to check the Internal Revenue Service Coronavirus Tax Relief and Economic Impact Payments page for updates. Thanks.

All the people complaining are getting SSI which is really welfare.
Social Security is paid in by the people who work it out. Social Security is not welfare. You pay your own Social Security in. You and noone else.

You can always tell when someone
is receiving welfare THEY COMPLAIN trying to get more and more. I served in the U S Army and was wounded 3 times in the same day. I retired from the U S Army with the rank of First Sergeant. The First Sergeant is the line between the Colonel, and other brass. He also runs the show in the combat zones.
I learned to keep my mouth shut and wait in the Army. How do you think I attained the rank of First Sergeant?

So all you complainers sitting at home collecting your welfare checks,
foodstamps, and other things free of charge every month need to try the
U S Army sometime and stop complaining. President Trump did not cause the Coronavirus. It came from china. President Trump tried to stop people from other countries coming into America but he was over
ruled. All you complainers have to have a scapegoat dont you? So shut up and wait. You will be out blowing the stimulus money on drugs and alcohol very soon. It takes people like President Trump, George Patton, JFK, Harry S Truman, Ronald Reagan, George W Bush, to run a country. As well as soldiers who protect you every day. So shut your whining mouths and wait.

    • connie

ty for your service and our freedom ,,God Bless you

    • Earl k.

SSi is not welfare. I paided in for 47 years and I just retired at 70 and I spent 15 years in the Army. I earned my SSI so never include everyone getting SSI as welfare. Also SSI as always used the money it has taken in and it would of been self supported if over the years the Senate didn’t use it as their own piggy bank!!

    • dee

no respect for you go get you some foodstamps if you can

    • Susan

Ty so much for ur service. I agree with u 100%

    • dee

reality check people don’t stay home and collect foodstamps and welfare most have to work to get them but if a person is sick injuried or ill they need that help just like you there is a reason why most join the army and its not to protect to come back and attack your people stupid is what stupid does….

    • CHERYL M.

I’m sorry you feel need to bash on people receiving assistance from DTA. Major Stereotype.
Some may take advantage, other people may have no choice.

    • Earl k.

    • Jennifer
