Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department soon. People receiving benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here section to provide their information.

Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries with dependent children and who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Wednesday, April 22, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly. SSI recipients need to take this action by later this month; a specific date will be available soon.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If beneficiaries in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200. People would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge Social Security and SSI recipients with qualifying children who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Action Needed for Social Security Beneficiaries with Dependents and Who Do Not File Tax Returns to Receive $500 Per Child Payment

People with Direct Express debit cards who enter information at the IRS’s website should complete all of the mandatory questions, but they may leave the bank account information section blank as Treasury already has their Direct Express information on file.

Additionally, any new beneficiaries since January 1, 2020, of either Social Security or SSI benefits, who did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019, will also need to go to the IRS’s Non-Filers website to enter their information as they will not receive automatic payments from Treasury.

Maybe they keep asking because the information that is being put out there is wrong.we have been getting misinformation and they keep changing the dates so don’t be an ass to people trying to find out what is going on.you may have been one of the lucky ones to get their payment while the rest of us are still struggling to get the correct information.dont blame people for asking questions blame the people who are misinforming everyone.

      • You i.

Asshole wtf are you talking about? 1- I have not got my payment, if I did, I wouldn’t be hanging around with you fags, and 2- I am referring to people who are so damn stupid to give out their personal information. It has nothing to do with questions and confusion. You although, seem very confused.

    • shelterer

If you get SSD and you received a form ssa-1099 you should have received it already.

If you filed a 2018 tax return with no direct deposit information but you are receiving your social security check directly deposited into your account, will you be receiving the stimulus check the same way you get your social security via direct deposit? Yes or no? And if yes, when?

    • Orbiter

My question exactly except I filed in 2018 & owed IRS $. I can’t find out the answer to this. I think we’ll get the stimulus the same way we get SS–DD or debit card. But I can’t find out when or even if that’s definitely right. Please let me know if you find out.

    Hello,
I did file a 2018 tax return but had no refund due. In previous years I received a refund in the mail. I have not filed a 2019 tax return yet. Will my stimulus check be direct deposited along with my SS direct deposit? Or do all SS recipients who file tax returns get their check the way they get tax returns? Is there anything I can do to have the stimulus check direct deposited along with my SS deposit?

  8. Jean

I have tried and tried to get an answer for my question re: whether my payment will be with my husband’s since he receives SS for retirement and I don’t? We qualify income-wise and filed jointly. I already tried to find this answer on the Economic Impact Payment Information link I was given, so please do help me know if I need to do something additional to make sure the payment arrives soon. The questions address other concerns but every time this question about being married to a Social Security recipient comes up, it is referred to the above-mentioned link where I CAN NOT FIND THE ANSWER.

    • Jean

One more note — we both have SS #s, which were on the “married filing jointly” return.

    • Taina27pr

Its based on how you filed in 2019 if it was jointly then whoever bank account you used that time is what the IRS will use.

  10. Jennifer
