Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul
Reading Time: 2 MinutesLast Updated: March 17, 2021
Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department soon. People receiving benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here section to provide their information.
Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries with dependent children and who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Wednesday, April 22, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly. SSI recipients need to take this action by later this month; a specific date will be available soon.
By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If beneficiaries in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200. People would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.
I urge Social Security and SSI recipients with qualifying children who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.
Action Needed for Social Security Beneficiaries with Dependents and Who Do Not File Tax Returns to Receive $500 Per Child Payment
People with Direct Express debit cards who enter information at the IRS’s website should complete all of the mandatory questions, but they may leave the bank account information section blank as Treasury already has their Direct Express information on file.
Additionally, any new beneficiaries since January 1, 2020, of either Social Security or SSI benefits, who did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019, will also need to go to the IRS’s Non-Filers website to enter their information as they will not receive automatic payments from Treasury.

I have dependent children who already receive benefits due to my ssd. Will they automatically get a check? I tried to file a simple stimulus for the kids but I don’t have an IP pin. So the system keeps rejecting my return. Ive tried contacting the IRS repeatedly to obtain an IP pin and have had no such luck.. Help…!

My son collects SSD from his dad. I get SSI. Both of our checks are direct deposited. My son is 15. I already went on the IRS site and applied for my stimulus but didnt add my son. What do i do?

I have a direct deposit already set up for several years at my ser credit Union in New Hampshire. So far I have received no impact payment to my account. I have a very low $472.00 check and need this impact money urgently. I was told by a tax advisor that I shouldn’t worry, “this impact money would be deposited automatically. ”
I have seen nothing from the Government.
I am very worried. I JUST KNOW WHAT TO DO. I’M WORRIED.???♂️
Respectfully. Michael Kilgore

Mine showed up 4/19 in my direct deposit like my ssdi and ssi. That was a Saturday too. Be patient, hopefully everyone will get theirs soon. I know people that should and are still waiting too.
Glenn
Hi Catherine,
Did you file taxes? Use non filer? Are you ssdi or retired or just ssi? I have ssi and ss retirement. I try to use the non filer (it says not to, but so much conflicting info) and it rejects it. My status says unknown. I get a 1099 form every year. Any help is so appreciated
Martie R.
You won’t be able to info off that website, they do not carry SS info. Since you get 1099 form from SS,
you will automatically get your pymnt the way you receive your SS, if direct deposit to your acct. then it get directly deposited, if you get monthly check by mail then it will come thru the mail..
Glenn
Hi Martie

Your language is offensive. I’m sure you can get your point across without the use of profanity like you used. The “F-word” is very offensive & immature. Shows a lack of education because you can’t communicate without using profanity or offensive language.
I’m sorry you have no empathy or compassion for your fellow human beings. We don’t need to hear about it in such language as you used.

can I get my check like everybody else did im a tax payer too come on now!

I think it is appalling that Social Security recipients with direct deposit, & aren’t required to pay taxes, are some of last to be paid. I know I paid plenty of taxes before I started receiving my SS. We are among the people who need it most as most of us are elderly & live at or below poverty level. Seems more coordination between Treasury Dept., IRS, & the SSA should have been done before payments started going out.
Michael
I feel the same way. They make you feel like you’re not as important

People who already filed their 2019 taxes have probably also gotten their refunds by now, particularly those people who knew they would be getting a refund. They may not be as financially strapped as most.

Both my Husband and I get SS and even together do not make enough to file taxes and haven’t had for years. I woke up this morning to an empty cabinet and refrigerator and have no idea what we’ll do until our checks post. Here we are waiting to find out when our checks will come since they direct deposit our SS checks. They have the information for our direct deposit, I just wonder when those stimulus checks will post. If anyone knows, please let me know. I want facts, not guesses. But I appreciate any replies. From what I read here, they should be here by the end of the month. We barely get by as it is and these checks will put food in the refrigerator and pay some long overdue bills. PLEASE hurry and send them. I’m just waiting for some utilities to be turned off. I just hope they get here in time. My husband has to wait until the 3rd Wednesday of the month to get his SS check and I get mine on the 3rd. I would just LOVE to be able to live an entire month without getting behind in the bills. I’d still be working if I were able. We’ve worked all our lives and paid taxes. Leaving us in limbo like this is not quite fair. We would probably not be so questionable if we had some sort of date to expect them to arrive. You know they have an idea if not KNOW exactly when they will be sent out. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think it’s quite fair.
