Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department soon. People receiving benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here section to provide their information.

Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries with dependent children and who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Wednesday, April 22, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly. SSI recipients need to take this action by later this month; a specific date will be available soon.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If beneficiaries in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200. People would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge Social Security and SSI recipients with qualifying children who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Action Needed for Social Security Beneficiaries with Dependents and Who Do Not File Tax Returns to Receive $500 Per Child Payment

People with Direct Express debit cards who enter information at the IRS’s website should complete all of the mandatory questions, but they may leave the bank account information section blank as Treasury already has their Direct Express information on file.

Additionally, any new beneficiaries since January 1, 2020, of either Social Security or SSI benefits, who did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019, will also need to go to the IRS’s Non-Filers website to enter their information as they will not receive automatic payments from Treasury.

What really hurts me is the fact that they said that these stimulus was suppose to be helping every citizen of the United States but then they came up with this idea about dependents not getting anything. The person that carried me on their income taxes does that because they help me within bills sometimes but I went completely broke taking care of myself during this quarantine period and they never helped me but to make matters worse then the government tells me the same thing by not allowing the right to get any of the money. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2005 and receive social security every month. I can’t afford to be putting out money on stuff but only get extra food stamps and no other help as well.

Really people, some people are just asking because of Bill’s that are due, If I’m late25$ a day after the 4th. There is nothing nice about calling anyone dumb or dumber person, just because you know what’s going on, doesn’t mean others do. SMH, if you know everything, why are you still on the page, being a bully is a big mistake, Just keep scrolling, and stop acting like a butt and grow up, I prayer the Good Lord talks to you, What kind of example, are you setting for our Nations Children and Grandchiles. Pray before you Speak Please!

Why does everyone on this site speak so rude to each other this is supposed to be a site to receive information about the stimulus check you have elderly people read3theze remarks and some of y’alls remakes are just down right hateful. You should be ashamed people are so disrespectful these days or you can’t respect others how do you respect yourself .

    • David S.

If you are going to bitch at people, kindly make sure your grammar is correct.

      Asshole.

    • Lil

I agree. Thank you. In the times we are living in the worst that can be done is make someone else feel bad. Im disabled and on SSDI. My only income. I haven’t got my check yet either but being rude and angry, and calling already upset people names is just going to increase alot more bad in this world.

  4. Albert

Can anyone answer this? According to irs.gov my stimulus check was deposited into my account on 4/15. The last 4 digits of bank account match mine. My bank shows no record of the check being deposited or rejected. I don’t know what to do. Does anyone know what to do?

    • Wildertaylor

If a check is sent to someone’s bank. It can take 7-10 business days before clearing. I am going off of my bank. I am not a SSA employee or bank representative. I am a citizen.

    • Lil

Please call your bank on Monday

  5. Krystal

I accidentally filed a form on the irs non filer form because I was told I had too then they said I didn’t and now I’m worried that I’m not gonna get a check my only income is my ssdi.. does the irs automatically know I’m on ssdi by my social security number.. I cant do much about it bow I already submit it it keeps saying on my check payment that determining eligibility… please answer my question

    • Wildertaylor

According to what I read, it all goes by your social security number, so you should still receive your check. I am not an employee of social security. I am a citizen.

      • Lil

U will get your check. Errors cant stop them from giving you your money. Please dont worry. Im on SSDI as well and thays my only income. Im ztill waiting on mine. Please dont worry

    • Brian A.

Krystal, sorry. It is giving you the determining eligibility message because you filed the form, when you shouldn’t have. Thats why people need to be patient rather than reading something and immediately acting on it.

    • V.V.

Hi Krystal, thank you for using our blog. Treasury, not Social Security, will be making automatic Economic Income Payments to eligible people. Unfortunately, we do not have information about the exact schedule for these payments. Treasury anticipates these payments to go out to Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries starting around the end of April and to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients starting in early May. You may want to check out the IRS Get My Payment Frequently Asked Questions web page for additional details. We hope this helps.

      • R. H.

It doesn’t. People are DYING. People have no food, no money for rent and all you can say is “i don’t know, ask treasury”. All treasury says is “i don’t know, ask SSA”. We need ANSWERS and we need DATES.

      • Woody

Ok I have done this get my payment questions and answers and nothing really tells me anything. I use the get my payment tool and it just says information not available. Yes I get a check every month from social security and the only thing I get out of this is we will receive our payment when we get our regular payment. What good is that doing us now. What money I do get goes to bills and broke rest if the month. I get a whole whopping 728 and Medicare takes 140 of that and rest is bills how about helping when we don’t have money not when we do. Plus your get my payment tool is a joke when I check everyday and all it says is information not available. Got any answers for that?

  6. Ronron

Ok Q the the IRS GET MY PAYMENT DSID WILL BE MAILED 4,24,2020 ….DO I GET IT THAT DAY OR THSTS THE DAY ITS SENT OUT ON

    • Angel

If it said it would be mailed on that day how would you get it that day?

      • Lil

Thats speaking of direct deposit. Not a paper check. I hope rhis helps

    • Wildertaylor

You will get the check according to how long it typically takes your mail to come. It maybe between 3-7 days, depending on where you live, and if it is an inflow of mail being sent out. I am not a SSA employee. I am a citizen.

  7. Wayne A.

My name is Wayne andring and I have been on social security disability for years now and I haven’t gotten my stemiles check yet I also went onto the portal site to check on when I would get my check and put in all my information and it kept coming up error

  8. Henry M.

I received SSDI & went to a PT Rehab facility that put themselves down as my PAYEE without my signature. I only get $70 a month now & my bank doesn’t get the direct deposit. I called the Social Security office. They told me to come in to change it, but it costs $175 by public transit to the next county that is only 20 miles away. Then i was told by Social Security to got the doctor to write the letter and fax it, but the doctor is referring me to another doctor & he said “NO”. This is fraud by me not signing anything for the PAYEE part. I got here July 29, 2019, now it is April 21, 2019. It was fishy when the DON told me on August 15, 2019 that 8f I don’t sign the Admission paperwork that I will not get medication. The DON “TIFFANY DENNIS” took my personal $800 phone from me because she didn’t want to be recorded & it was done in front of 3 CNA’s. The Ombudsman in Eastman, Georgia “Racheal Hillard” hasn’t helped me at all. I am from Augusta and the Ombudsman there told me it was illegal for the DON to do that. I filed a police report, reported it to the State Regulators and nothing is done especially why does my check come on the 1st but I get the $70 on the 8th? Alot of fraud is happening here. What next the F.B.I.? They aren’t saying nothing about the STIMULUS CHECK. But it is reported that SSDI recipients should receive it. The name of this place is:

    Eastman Healthcare and Rehab

    Help is needed!!!

Everyone should read the updates daily and stop arguing and name calling.
    Read and just wait.

  10. Ryan K.

Hi, I filed my 2019 income tax but since it was the first time I filed in years I had to do additional steps to verify my identity. Before I could go to IRS office to verify my identity we was put on a partial lockdown. So how do I verify my identity to receive my stimulus package, if our IRS office is closed and its near impossible to get in contact via phone?

    • V.V.

Hi Ryan, thank you for your question. You may find the IRS Online Tool Guide helpful to determine what action you may need to take. Hopefully this information is helpful.
