I want you to hear directly from me how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting our services. The first thing you should know is that we continue to pay benefits. Be aware that scammers may try to trick you into thinking the pandemic is stopping your Social Security payments but that is not true. Don’t be fooled.

To protect you and help stop the spread of this coronavirus, we cannot accept visitors in our offices at this time. There are several other ways you can get help. Many services are available online. If you have a critical need that you cannot address online, we can help you over the phone.

Please visit our website to find out what services we are continuing and which ones we are suspending, how to contact us, and important information about deadlines we are extending to ease the burden on you and medical providers during this pandemic.

You can subscribe to receive email or text message notifications. Please share this information with your family and friends to help us spread the word.

I am a licensed insurance agent working for a large health plan and keep having trouble getting folks signed up for medicare. Specifically, they are going all the way into the process of establishing an online ssa account to enroll and then being asked “credit based” questions to which all of the answers are “none of the above”. This is after they’ve already started the process. They are being told that this is because during Covid-19 nobody can establish a new acct. If that’s the case, why don’t you post that on the website?

Hi Peggy, thanks for using our blog. Even though the Social Security offices are closed to the public for face-to-face service during the COVID-19 pandemic, individuals can still get our help by using our online services, including creating a my Social Security account, or by calling us. In addition, even if an individual is unable to create a my Social Security account, they can still file their application online.

Our Social Security & Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) web page has additional details under “Can I Enroll in Medicare?” which you may find helpful.

Hi Robert, thank you for your question. The Internal Revenue Service, which is part of the Department of Treasury, will be making Economic Income Payments to eligible people. To help you quickly and easily determine whether you need to take any action to receive your Economic Impact Payment, or a payment for your qualifying child, check out these step-by-step instructions at the Social Security and Coronavirus web page.

Will you stop that already – sound like a broken record! It’s clear some people didn’t get the stimulus check myself included but your responses just suck right now people were counting on that stimulus you don’t know what they could be going through but stop the shit and actually help these people. We need ANSWERS not tour pitty!
