" "This holiday season is the perfect time to reflect on our less fortunate and most vulnerable citizens.

Life is unpredictable, and everyone is susceptible to experiencing homelessness. It can happen to people in our community — like colleagues and military veterans. It can affect close friends and even family members. It can also happen to people who could be too proud to ask for help.

When homelessness happens, Social Security is there. We pay benefits to people with disabilities who are experiencing homelessness and have accumulated enough credits from work to qualify through our disability program. Social Security also pays benefits through the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program. SSI is a means-tested program for people with disabilities who meet the financial guidelines, but haven’t worked enough to qualify for Social Security disability benefits.

People experiencing homelessness have the same rights and privileges when they apply for benefits as someone who has a permanent shelter. If a person is experiencing homelessness, their benefits can be deposited directly into a personal banking account or another electronic account. It can also be mailed to a third party. A relative or other third party can be assigned as their representative payee.

Our website offers vital information for people experiencing homelessness and their service providers. There, you can find information about housing and applications for Social Security benefits.

At Social Security, we are committed to be there with you throughout life’s journey. You can help us make a positive change in someone’s life. Please help us spread this message about our services. Share this information with your loved ones and anyone who could need it. Together, we can make a difference.

Happy Holidays.

I am trying really hard to get to PASS and it’s not what I can say is easy to talk to anyone, to achieve the forms and I don’t know but yiu’d think you would prefer to see me paying in and exceeding any and all reasonable expectations but at the expense end it’s difficult to purchase printer ink and a little help would go a long way I can just see it now and I cannot have $3k or earn $84.99 a month that’s really not what I want to do with the time I have left

My disable son turn 18 before graduation from high school. He was getting ssi since birth and when his father started to get retired benefits my son benefits status change. When my son turn 18 on 4/14/18 ,my son benefits stop. Then my son applied for SSI, and others it was a nightmare from hell. Get my son a lot stressful time ,he couldn’t function well graduation was coming even though he was going to therapy, doctors it was to stressful for us. He got a scholarship for college mean time we continued following everything with SS offices come the time for there doctor appointment and then denial letter after thar. Put my son under so much pressure that with 22 disabilities and one is autistic spectrum , taking 3 classes at Wilmington University he for the first time left my home twice and the second time the police put a gold alert they found Charles with his father but he still not communicated with me. It hurts so much all the hard work we put to have a good life. That’s my story. I will wish a happy Holidays to all and peace in this world.

I was at the social security in Redford Michigan and I was seen by a men Customerservice rep I’m not going say his name but he was rude and I ask him can I get a manager name or phone number because I been up to the office three times to summit a waiver and I still have not heard back from anyone and it’s been 6 months. He got mad and called security because I ask for a manager name and number.
