Earlier this week, The White House issued national guidance regarding Opening Up America Again. We are evaluating this information as it relates to our agency and are continuing to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation across the nation. In fulfilling Social Security’s mission, when we reopen offices to the public, we will provide a safe environment for both the people we serve and our employees.

As we continue to develop our plans, our offices will remain closed to the public for face-to-face service, and our employees will continue to work remotely and provide services to the public. We will provide updates moving forward and post updated information on the status of our offices, by state, at our website. Our agency will provide these updates directly, and please disregard other sources of information regarding the status of our offices.

We will continue to provide the vital service the public relies on. Please visit our website for more information about our services during the pandemic.

Is social security monthly payments the same as SSI payments?

  6. Jessie L.

Is there any particular order that the stimulus checks are disbursed or deposited? When can I expect my deposit?

    • V.V.

Hi Jessie, thank you for your question. Social Security retirement, survivors, or disability beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who do not have qualifying children under age 17 do not need to take any action with the IRS. You will automatically receive your $1,200 economic impact payment directly from the IRS. You should receive the automatic payments by direct deposit, Direct Express debit card, or by paper check, just as you would normally receive your Social Security benefits. Treasury expects automatic payments for Social Security beneficiaries no later than the end of April and automatic payments for SSI recipients no later than early May. We hope this helps.

There is talk of another round(or 6) of checks. To be determined.
I think that Treasury lined it up and the over 50 yr old system is antiquated and barely cutting it. The UEemp. website in each state was overwhelmed as well. Soc Sec was not given a firm date on it either and u cannot get ahold of Direct Express who has a recording stating that there is no info avail.
C’MON!!! If there is a next time- SHAPE UP RMP

      Please Social Security Admin:
Speedy reply to Seniors and other recipients for food money during this pandemic. Give us a date please for deposits.

      • Sara L.

I agree with you , we need an update as to when we will get our stimlus. I don’t have any dependents & this system in place is a mess
