Earlier this week, The White House issued national guidance regarding Opening Up America Again. We are evaluating this information as it relates to our agency and are continuing to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation across the nation. In fulfilling Social Security’s mission, when we reopen offices to the public, we will provide a safe environment for both the people we serve and our employees.

As we continue to develop our plans, our offices will remain closed to the public for face-to-face service, and our employees will continue to work remotely and provide services to the public. We will provide updates moving forward and post updated information on the status of our offices, by state, at our website. Our agency will provide these updates directly, and please disregard other sources of information regarding the status of our offices.

We will continue to provide the vital service the public relies on. Please visit our website for more information about our services during the pandemic.

Do your goddamned jobs and reopen the offices. All services are not able to be completed via telephone, online or mail. There are many ways to accomplish reopening safely. It’s incomprehensible that all the people employed in the SSA that nobody could figure this out. A further waste of American tax dollars.

Since November 2019 child support payment’s have been taken out but has not been paid out. I have been on ssi for at least 10 years and never had a problem until November 2019, the same month November 2019 they also took have of my half of my check they said for child support also. But again the state says they never received it and my x-wife never received it so where did it go. Been asking for months and always get different answers. The last time i talked to ssi they said it was put back on my card 3 days later yet that never happened. One spokesperson told me there was a court order and she would send me paperwork which 2 months later i still have nothing. 2 weeks ago i talked to a ssi spokesman that told me my x-wife was lying and that she has always received every penny. Will now because all this child support says i’m behind in my child support payment’s and because of that i didn’t receive the stimulus check like most everyone else. Can anybody help me find answers?

Online services do not allow permanent residents to get an original social security card and without it, we are not able to get a job and/or attend college. Reopening the social security offices for in-person services is an essential need for reopening the American economy. Despite the fact that the SSA has offered online services, they’re not helpful for people who need to present original documents to a representative in order to get our issue solved. I have called social security offices and USICIS several times to find a way to solve this issue, however, I haven’t received any solution. I politely ask the SSA to please consider reopening in-person services as soon as possible.

What if we can’t do it online. I can’t register my account because of the issue I have with my social security number. I can only take care of it in person.

Is the Allentown Social Security offices open yet to the public? I need to get new Social Security cards for children I have custody of. I need to bring the official paperwork with me that I can not mail. I need the s.s. cards for my taxes. Please email me and let me know if the offices are open or if there is another way I can get the social security cards for the children.

    Thank you

It’s either time to open the local SS offices to allow permanent residents obtain a new SSN or allow video confering to apply for one instead. I have called SSN so many times trying to get a F2F appointment only to be turned downed becasue my wife does not meet the critieria for a F2F appointment. There is no other current method to obtain a new SSN. We need it to file Fedearl Income taxes and without the SSN, we will have to pay a substantial amount . In order to file married filing jointly, a SSN or ITIN is required. The IRS will not issue an ITIN becasue my wife already has the permanent residency card. There is no logical reason why CDC precautions could not be followed and allow F2F appointments to obtain a new SSN. Your SS team members have all been very courteous, however, they do not know when the offices would open. The SS website has been static since March 17th and provides no useful information. I have written our Senator, Marco Rubio, and spoke on the phone with his office about this issue. His office was not aware of the SSN limitations and stated they would inquire. Mrs. Fernandez, Jacksonville District MGR, was kind when we spoke both her and Mr. Muniz, SUPV. Ms. Fenandez said the SS guidelines state that you must have a pending job offer with a confirmation letter to get a F2F appointment. She also looked to see if my wife could apply for SS/Medicare, but discovered that she could not since I was not yet claiming SS. Ms. Fernandez really tried to help with the current guidelines, but was not able to offer any remedy. The pandemic has taken a toll on us like many others financially and having to pay a much larger tax amount on July 15th will add even more financial stress on us. Hopefully, the tax date will be moved again to later in the year. But, the closer July 15th approaches, the less likely that will happen.

I think it’s not right to only have social security employees doing telework.AFGE is against disabled employees. Some employees are not able to telework for various reasons. Its not helping out claimants.Eslecislly claimant without attorneys or reprexentstives. What happens with the mail sent in by unrepresented claimants. It does not get processed. We need to reopen federal government.

I need to get something changed with my social security number. I can’t use online services because of what needs to be changed. Also I need this done so I can file my taxes. Please can we have a date when you will be opening. And no PA is not doing appointments. I am really in a bind.
