Update on Our Reentry Plans
Reading Time: 1 MinuteLast Updated: December 22, 2021
We want to give you an update on our preparations for returning our employees to local Social Security offices, a process called reentry.
You may have seen a proposed reentry date of January 3, 2022 in the draft reentry plan that we provided to our unions, or in the media. While some executives reentered on December 1, we have not set a reentry date for the rest of the agency.
The best way to reach us is online at SSA.gov, or by calling our National 800 Number or a local Social Security office. At this time, please remember that we can only provide in-person service by appointment only for limited, critical issues. And we continue to hold voluntary hearings by online video and phone. We are taking steps to increase in-person help for people unable to complete their business online or by phone.
We will keep you updated on our reentry process.

I have been attempting to sign into my account
Have not succeeded. Called office, got recording that abruptly ended.
And our taxes are paying for this atrocious service?

Dee, I’ve been trying for over 2 weeks to get into my account & my wife applied for SS back in November & has been on step 2 since then & she can’t login to her account anymore either. What the heck is going on???

We’ve been attempting to file paperwork for nearly 2 years. We all need to complain to our politicians that represent us. This needs to be brought out for public knowledge.
I think there is a funding issue and the government is suppressing it. Biden has screwed up everything else; why not the SSA? If there is a funding issue, they are likely using the pandemic as an excuse/cover-up.

I’ve been trying to get back into my incomplete ssi application for weeks but I can’t find my reentry number anywhere. It says that it says it under “more info” in the “benefit application” section, but it doesn’t. Can someone please tell me where I can find my reentry number???
Pounce
Hi Melody, your reentry number is created when you start your application. You are prompted to write it down or print it before saving and exiting. Check your papers you had that day, or whether they sent it to your email. Otherwise, try loggin into my ssa and see if you can open your app that way. Lastly: call SSA and wait in terrible line to verify and get the system reset.

I have been trying to do a name change since I got married 2 years ago and no one will assist with this process. Why can’t I walk in to submit my paperwork?
Amanda A.
Exactly. I was told to mail an application with original document, copies aren’t allowed, and they would be mailed back. I’m not comfortable with that at all.
