Update on Our Reentry Plans

We want to give you an update on our preparations for returning our employees to local Social Security offices, a process called reentry.
You may have seen a proposed reentry date of January 3, 2022 in the draft reentry plan that we provided to our unions, or in the media. While some executives reentered on December 1, we have not set a reentry date for the rest of the agency.
The best way to reach us is online at SSA.gov, or by calling our National 800 Number or a local Social Security office. At this time, please remember that we can only provide in-person service by appointment only for limited, critical issues. And we continue to hold voluntary hearings by online video and phone. We are taking steps to increase in-person help for people unable to complete their business online or by phone.

Hi Derrick, thanks for using our blog. The minimum age for Social Security retirement benefits is 62. To begin receiving reduced retirement benefits at 62, you are required to be age 62 for the entire month. For SSA purposes, individuals born on the first or second day of the month are considered age 62 for the “full” month and could be entitled to benefits for the month of their 62nd birthday. However, if born on the 3rd or later, you must wait a month.
You can apply up to four months before you want your retirement benefits to start or when you’re 61 and 9 months old.
Social Security benefits are paid in the month following the month they are due. The exact payment date is determined by your date of birth. Check out our Schedule of Social Security Payments for the 2022 payment dates.
When you’re ready to apply, you can apply online.
If you are unable or would rather not apply online, you can call us at 1-800-772-1213 for assistance or you can contact your local Social Security office. Hi, I assist seniors with their medicare health plan options. Those who are turning 65 or working past age 65 and DO NOT have computers or printers at home need to know how to apply for Medicare. I can provide the form CMS-40B for those adding Part B but where should they send the form? Are any of the local SSA offices picking up their mail?

Hi Cindy, thank you for using our blog. Generally, individuals receiving Social Security benefits are automatically enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B. If your clients are at least 64 years and 9 months old and aren’t receiving Social Security benefits, they can apply for Medicare A and B online or call and make an appointment. They can call us at 1-800-772-1213 or call their local Social Security office. Look for the general inquiry telephone number at the Social Security Office Locator. The number may appear under Show Additional Office Information.
If they already have Medicare Part A and need to sign up for Medicare Part B, there are some forms that they will need to complete and submit. See our Frequently Asked Questions web page for options on how to submit those forms. We hope this helps!

Thank you for using our blog, Raymond. To change your withholding you will need to complete another Form W-4V. You can download the form or call the IRS toll-free at 1-800-829-3676 and ask for Form W-4V. When you complete the form, you can choose to have 7, 10, 12, or 22 percent of your monthly benefit withheld for taxes. Mail the completed, signed form to your local Social Security office. Use our Social Security Office Locator to obtain their mailing address.

Last year was an issue due to this virus and by now they still have no solution as to how they’re going to help out the seniors. What are you going to do wait until it’s too late again and tell them they’re going to have to wait until next year again? BULLSHIT!! GET IT TOGETHER!!!! On hold for almost an hour

The Social Security Administration is the biggest ripe off at the U.S. Taxpayer expense . They want you to pay ,but will not provide you with any type of quality service in return. They are rude & will not help you! They all need to be Fired and get someone to run it that cares about the American People!

I agree with you. I am so frustrated with them. I applied for a replacement card for my minor son. I received confirmation that they got the application. I called yesterday to find out the progress. After waiting for 20 minutes for someone to pick up. The woman gets on the phone not very helpful. When I pushed back a little she hung up. After waiting for 20 minutes. Unbelievable. Now I’ve been waiting for over 30 minute and still waiting.

Absolute horrible service. I need to a copy of my daughters social security card as I’m being deployed soon and have some paperwork to finish. I’ve been waiting almost 6 weeks for it to come. Phone calls are a JOKE. the representative can’t provide no guidance. Pathetic way to serve us.

There are no copies of Social Security cards and they are not printed locally only through a card center. Your local office does the input and verifies the documents then overnight it goes to a card center for printing.
