Update on Our Reentry Plans

We want to give you an update on our preparations for returning our employees to local Social Security offices, a process called reentry.
You may have seen a proposed reentry date of January 3, 2022 in the draft reentry plan that we provided to our unions, or in the media. While some executives reentered on December 1, we have not set a reentry date for the rest of the agency.
The best way to reach us is online at SSA.gov, or by calling our National 800 Number or a local Social Security office. At this time, please remember that we can only provide in-person service by appointment only for limited, critical issues. And we continue to hold voluntary hearings by online video and phone. We are taking steps to increase in-person help for people unable to complete their business online or by phone.

All offices should open up. This agency is very inefficient. If you have a problem, everyone that you talk to gives you a different response as what you should do.

Social security offices need to open back up this is ridiculous. The appointments you guys claim to offer are either for one or two things. I need to update my name asap and I can’t even get an appointment. Instead I’ve been told I have to drop off all my actual documents like birth certificates and ID’s in an envelope in their mail slot! How am I suppose to walk around without any identification for weeks until you return them! Specially with all the fraud going around there is no way I would just drop off my birth certificate and social security card in your mail slot that’s ridiculous!

I mailed in my court order and SSA card to my local office with the form and they processed my name change and I had the documents returned the following week and a new SSA card the day after the documents were rec’d.

You can also securely view and save the Social Security COLA notice online via the Message Center inside your my Social Security account . If you don’t have an account, create one today.

I called 2 weeks AGO and told the lady that I had not received my 2022 statement as to amount I will received she said it was mailed beginning of Dec but would send me another one. Still have not received anything. Can you check. Thank you

Good luck and I am hearing the same thing. Seniors and Disabled people are telling me the same thing in the Public Transportation in Wisconsin, ,Illinois, and Tennessee.
No new paperwork for 2022. They call Social Security toll free and wait for hours.
When they get off they feel exhausted and mistreated.

Yes, the ssa offices do need to open back up; everything else is open, the children are back in school. They are no more important than anyone else. Also NOONE is being held accountable, they’re passing the buck and full of lies. I’m still waiting on a phone call from a supervisor…it’s been 3mos now.

Michigan is not 88% fully vaccinated. Only 56% of Michigan is fully vaccinated as of 12/29/2021.
