Supplemental Security Income Recipients, Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department in early May. People receiving SSI benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Your Information section to provide their information. SSI recipients who have dependent children and did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Tuesday, May 5, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly.
By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If people in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200 only. They would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.
I urge SSI recipients with qualifying children and who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.
Lastly, a word of caution. Be aware of scams related to the Economic Impact Payments. There is no fee required to receive these payments. Don’t be fooled.

Yes you have to go irs.gov and file the “non-filers” paper and you’ll get $500 for each child under 18 also if you get it in by May 5th. And you’ll get the 1200 also!

I’m on social security & social security disability, also have the Direct Express card. I used the non-filters portal to file so I could get my stimulus quicker using my PayPal. I did this on April 21, 2020. I checked on the “GET MY PAYMENT” portal & it said that my stimulus was being deposited into my bank be acct.# ************1234(not the #s given). My PayPal acct.# is not the number the it’s has listed. I filed before the cut-off date, so why is the irs depositing my stimulus into an acct. that isn’t mine nor have I ever had an acct. that had those 4 last digits listed.. The last time I filed taxes was in 2012 do I could get my renter’s rebate. And why can’t I do anything about it? Why do we have to pay for the errors the idiotic employees at the irs are making? So now I get to sit here helpless, hopeless & hungry like thousands of other Americans are.

Yea at least u all will get it i didnt think it was fair that i owe child support an i am broke an dont get a check so now i have to steal my good to survive so hope u all do get. Ur money i wish i could get one

Go to IRS.gov they have new forms for people who owe child support or back taxes. Every American is supposed to get one. If your kids are under 18 the wife will already get 500 a piece for them. I only know because my friend owes 40,000 in back child support and he’s getting one. Keep trying!

I feel the same way and so does my fiance.. We both owe child support even though we are barely able to support ourselves on a daily basis.. We were needing the stimulus to keep our house we just got into last month (we been homeless since april 2017).. we recently found out we’re expecting our first child together and now we got a letter saying they took our stimulus and gave it for child support.. The other parents work and get taxes and their stimulus payment and ours on top of that.. How is that right.. This stimulus was supposed to help people who are struggling durring this virus pandemic yet we get no help..

I haven’t received mine yet either and my boyfriend hasn’t either and I don’t understand what it means buy waves I need to just put the money on the 1st and not everybody’s car to ask Direct Express and people that have bank accounts
