Supplemental Security Income Recipients, Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department in early May. People receiving SSI benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Your Information section to provide their information. SSI recipients who have dependent children and did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Tuesday, May 5, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If people in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200 only. They would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge SSI recipients with qualifying children and who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Lastly, a word of caution. Be aware of scams related to the Economic Impact Payments. There is no fee required to receive these payments. Don’t be fooled.

    Early may

It’s Bull that SSI & SSA have to wait this long. I’m 50 make $778 a month and struggle with 1 dependent & now this crap has me really struggling because you have to buy extra stuff to stock up because everything is sold out. It says you don’t have to do anything now it says fill out a form if I understand it right. I get direct deposits every month for the last 10 yrs nothing has changed I should of gotten mine no problem but just like the Vets we are nothing to them

    • Sheila

All of us SSI/SSA recipients will get ours beginning of May. Probably included with our regular money. Reason being is that Trumposo only wanted the money to go to people who were working. Democrats stepped up to the plate a week or so later and insisted we should also receive the money. Had to get approved despite Trumposo’s resistance. I’m still not going to vote for Biden, because he is a Republican pretending to be a Democrat. He has the same plans that Trumposo is using. Same bs, but a charming attitude. I’m voting Green Party because their plan helps us. The Democrats sold out to help the rich and corporate leaders. Green Party will help us seniors and disabled.VOTE GREEN

Trump Republican, Biden Democrat, the Republican sold out for the rich and are for the rich, it was the Democrats who wanted all ss people to get the stimulus !

  3. Lynn

Steve sorry to hear you have a bad heart.but you will not get a stimulus check if you owe child support. That’s how it is. Your kids will always come first you helped make them with your bad heart so you have to support them. And the government will give it to their mom or guardian. So nothing you can do but let it go.

  4. Linda S.

I wanna kno wat everybody else wants to kno ,I get SSA,when can we expect our stimulus check

    • Sheila

      Beginning of May

    • A.C.

Hi, Linda. Treasury, not Social Security, will be making automatic Economic Income Payments to eligible people. Unfortunately, we do not have information about the exact schedule for these payments. Treasury anticipates these payments to go out to Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries starting around the end of April and to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients starting in early May. Continue to check the Internal Revenue Service Coronavirus Tax Relief and Economic Impact Payments page for updates. Thanks.

How in the FUCK does 17 year olds get skipped and disregarded like that to not receive the $500 or the $1200 17 year old are people that have to suffer due to Covid-19 just like everyone else.

What about COLLEGE students. College students should get their loans waved we have to deal with this bullshit too. College students should be skipped to the next level just like other students we matter most. College students are the future. Your future doctors, lawyers, psychologists etc. Older people will soon rely on us so treat us well we deserve it!!!

    • JBN

You want everyone to give you everything? Why not find yourself a Sugar Daddy or Sugar Mama if you don’t want to pay your own way through school.

    • sally

There is a proposal that democrats are hoping will go through, it includes everyone to get money every month for up to 6 months.

    • peter

Bug hum bug grow up already kid your almost 18 ,

    • J

Nobody’s gonna rely on your stupid millennial ass.

  6. Lianne W.

Why can’t parents who are on disability with children 17-19, who are still in school full-time, get the $500/ child? They are supporting these kids and need the money.

    • Sheila

Welfare cuts support to children when they turn 17. They cut them off without notice. It shocked me when that happened to my check many years ago. I don’t know why they do that it makes no since. Colleges won’t give them student loans without parents complete financial records, whether or not the child moved away or not. This goes on every year until they turn I think it is 23 years old. Stupid crap.

  7. AngelaFMoore

My minor daughter gets survivors cause her father passed away and I am the payee I have a green dot master card and I am currently waiting to get approved for disability so I haven’t been able to work for years now I tried using the website and entering myself and my 2 minor children but it keeps rejecting it for some reason when I know I’m eligible I tried again recently and same thing happened but has a different error every time I also have a son who sometimes gets child support on the TN way to go child support card and his father owes alot of back child support will we still receive our stimulus payment on my green dot card and child support card? I’m so confused about all of this and I’m so worried that we won’t get it and we so desperately need it.

If you didn’t file taxes in 2018 or 2019 and you are not a dependent on your ex’s income taxes, you need to fill out the Non-Filers section on the IRS.GOV website.

    • A.C.

Hi, Angela. We are sorry to hear about your situation. Treasury, not Social Security, will be making direct payments to eligible people. Please visit the IRS Economic Impact Payments Information Center to answer your questions about eligibility, payment amounts, what to expect, when to expect it and more. Hope this helps!

  8. Ronald H.

They used IRS to send the money!! Big mistake! They tried this in 2008! Cluster F__ck!! I’ve done everything they have asked for, but yet I’m more confused than ever! I guess I’ll switch to the Dumb Ass Dems and piss and moan about every thing!! ??

    • Diane S.

You are ignorant and foolish because all you do is parrot the manipulative mainstream media who broadcast nothing but DISINFORMATION and spin.

Asshole, do us a favor and don’t spend the money. That money that the DEMOCRATS pushed for.

  9. Ross M.

Amazing I am a C&P service connected Veteran on disability. I don’t have income because this is a monthly benefit payment. I still qualify for the stimulus check but wtf everyone speaking for the government are almost lame and extremely confusing. Idiots all of you in charge.
