Supplemental Security Income Recipients, Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department in early May. People receiving SSI benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Your Information section to provide their information. SSI recipients who have dependent children and did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Tuesday, May 5, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If people in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200 only. They would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge SSI recipients with qualifying children and who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Lastly, a word of caution. Be aware of scams related to the Economic Impact Payments. There is no fee required to receive these payments. Don’t be fooled.

Wow, you POS calling disabled people names. Some are asking b/c they are mentally disabled(are you as well, sounds like it!), it’s hard for them to make it through the process. People need to really grow some humanity.

      • Junghart

Good job Dan! Why people have the need to be a holes is beyond me.

  4. Ms.Cochran

I’m on both SSI and SSD I still have not received any money. So many different things have been said it’s confusing what you should do

  5. Donna M.

I started getting ssi in January of this year and I went to the IRS portal nd filed a 2019 tax return…now they say people who get ssi will automatically get their stimulus money the way they get ssi benefits. Am I going to get any stimulus money?? I have no dependents.

  6. Debbie H.

I am terminally ill I have a terminal diagnosis, 4 autoimmune diseases I was 100% disabled last May I have a severe back injury that is 3 years old that is when I first applied for SSD/ and then I applied for SSI. I was turned down because I wasn’t represented very well at all I’ve never had to do anything with a lawyer. I cannot work. when I got turned down I called social security and the representative advised me on filing an AGL. Which by law was supposed to be approved by December 2019. And now we have a virus that can could kill me in a second My terminal illness does not have an end date I could die tonight. so I’m asking can you please contact the Royersford Pennsylvania social security department and have them process my money so that I can at least live a little bit. I have 40 years of social security paid in to the government there’s no way that I should not have my money. Please can you have my case processed and my money deposited into my account ASAP. Thank you Debbie Holland.

  9. Brenda S.

I receive supplemental social security and get benefits direct deposit to my account when do I get my stimmulas payment.brendashelton096@gmail.com

    • V.V.

Hi Brenda, thank you for your question. Social Security retirement, survivors, or disability beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who do not have qualifying children under age 17 do not need to take any action with the IRS. You will automatically receive your $1,200 economic impact payment directly from the IRS. You should receive the automatic payments by direct deposit, Direct Express debit card, or by paper check, just as you would normally receive your Social Security benefits. Treasury expects automatic payments for Social Security beneficiaries no later than the end of April and automatic payments for SSI recipients no later than early May. We hope this helps.

  10. Nickie A.

This is what they sayingNote – Direct Express Account Holders: You may use the Non-Filers tool, but you cannot receive your and your children’s payment on your Direct Express account. You may only select a bank account for direct deposit or leave bank information blank and receive the money by mail.
