Supplemental Security Income Recipients, Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department in early May. People receiving SSI benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Your Information section to provide their information. SSI recipients who have dependent children and did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Tuesday, May 5, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly.
By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If people in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200 only. They would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.
I urge SSI recipients with qualifying children and who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.
Lastly, a word of caution. Be aware of scams related to the Economic Impact Payments. There is no fee required to receive these payments. Don’t be fooled.

I am a U.S.Citizen retiree living in the Philippines. I receive my pension directly deposited to my US$ savings account at Banco d Oro, the largest commercial bank in the Philippines. I have tried multiple times to file online, entering the routing code and account number but every time I get an auto-reply that the routing code is not on file. I tried to file without bank details hoping I could receive a check but it was again rejected. I tried calling both the local Social Security office at the U.S. embassy and to the 800 number in the U.S. but there is no service available. I cannot mail in a 2019 return because the post office here is closed.

Social Security retirement, survivors, or disability beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who do not have qualifying children under age 17 do not need to take any action with the IRS. You will automatically receive your $1,200 economic impact payment directly from the IRS. You should receive the automatic payments by direct deposit, Direct Express debit card, or by paper check, just as you would normally receive your Social Security benefits. Treasury expects automatic payments for Social Security beneficiaries no later than the end of April and automatic payments for SSI recipients no later than early May. We hope this helps.

Tried to do the non filer tool on the irs site. Would not let me. said my son had already been claimed. her parental rights where terminated Dec 22,2018. why is she claiming him on her taxes?

Unfortunately, we do not have information about the exact schedule for these payments. Treasury anticipates these payments to go out to Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries starting around the end of April and to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients starting in early May. I don’t understand why I don’t get the help (check) the reason being my niece makes me on her taxes cause she helps take care of me but I need the extra help also I’m on SSI disability but it isn’t enough to pay everything thank you

What about those of us who receive SSI, file both Federal & State taxes yearly and pay estimated taxes and do not have kids? What do we do?

When will social security retired personnel received a stimulant money pay check? I haven’t received nor heard anything information on when will social security retirement people will receive I will $1,200 stimulus check.
