We need a Social Security leader who is honest, transparent, and courageous. You should know that since September 2015 Social Security automatically stops payments to people more than 115 years old.

So, why have you not spoken up against DOGE misinformation?

Simply using the acronym DOGE in your letter kills any chance of me believing that transparency is truly the goal.

I have paid into Social Security for over 65 years and am still paying. I draw the maximum amount.
It is not fair to take it away but I don’t need it. I should be allowed to transfer it to a low income person of my choice until I need it.

Many seniors including myself depend on SS income for basic survival. The current cadre came up in the world at a time before 401k and other workplace-sponsored retirement funds were a concept – and by virtue of our perceived inferior status, women were scarcely employed. Yet student loans were the standard and encouraged means of making a go of it in the world, developing ourselves (and yes for many, increasing one’s marriagability through a college education). It is a different department, but still a federal program, that operates student loans, but still it impacts seniors who were unable to save and invest funds over a lifetime to prepare for the future, because the monthly payment toward student loan debt prevented this. No one explained how this works to young students naive to the workings of finance – and these individuals may still be paying the price with debt burdens that actually increased even after decades of payment.
I am asking as a United States citizen that Social Security remain intact, increase rather than decrease in payments to valid recipients including surviving spouses. These actions will go a long way toward preventing a new and unimaginable epidemic of homelessness – and keep our nation in league with moat of the free world in caring for its elders.

This is a difficult time and this statement is most notable in what it does NOT say.
It doesn’t talk about the security of our personal data. This data is valuable in National Security terms and in commercial leverage terms. The DOGE Staff having Read Only access does not address the risks of this data being copied or misused.
I can understand wanting to make government work more effective and efficient. The current constitutional method to define government spending and laws is through Congress. However, the DOGE efforts are circumnavigating Congress. If the operation of Congress is not allowing government to become more efficient and effective then the first order of business should be reforming Congress to allow government improvement to proceed at pace.
Government is not the same as business. Businesses are easy to assess based on either profit or market share. Government work requires first choosing what is important and from that choice then selecting what would need to be measured to allow management and improvement.
Ask the question, ‘What was the best year’s performance?’ of any government department and there is no consistent answer; only ‘it depends’, ‘it’s conditional that you agree my performance metric’, or completely subjective (The DOGE answer).
    Best wishes to all.

I am getting Social Security payments for the first time. I’m wondering if I will still get payment because of the President has appointed Lee Dudek as Acting Commissioner of Social Security.

I believe that after the audit that is going on, they will find where big SS payments are being fraud. Praying for this.

As a taxpayer I am happily surprised that someone has the gumption to analyze where the money is going. A bureau specific accounting. All the states also need this.

My concern is that there was a comment about persons that were dead. Of course you are going to find that, widow/widower survivors are receiving benefits using their social security number. What happens when that information is removed? How will you proved you were married to that person? NO COMMON SENSE!!

I see nothing open and transparent about what doge is doing inside SSA and other agencies this is a ridiculous exercise that is serving the administration two purposes one has a distraction from other shit they’re pulling and two scrounging money up for the big tax cut come for the 1%. Whatever they don’t find here they’re going to take from us. Happy you voted for this guy yet?
