Social Security Increases Transparency and Accountability – Shares More Information Online

The Social Security Administration (SSA) announced today several new initiatives and resources to promote greater transparency and accountability.
“President Trump has been clear that good government must serve the People. This begins with being transparent in how its government makes decisions and operates as good stewards of the resources entrusted to it,” said Lee Dudek, Acting Commissioner of Social Security.
“With this guiding principle in mind, Social Security is taking several important steps to increase transparency and accountability in order to help others understand our agency’s work and the complexities we navigate.”
What to Know about Proving Your Identity: SSA recently announced it is strengthening identity proofing requirements for people who do not use a personal my Social Security account to apply for cash benefits or to change direct deposit information for benefits. To help the public understand the new policy, SSA today published a new webpage, What to Know about Proving Your Identity | SSA.
Weekly Operational Report Meetings: Acting Commissioner Dudek meets with his senior leadership team throughout the week to tackle a range of challenges facing the agency. During the Weekly Operational Report (WOR) meeting, leaders focus on specific topics, the options presented to the acting commissioner, and the resulting decisions made during these meetings. Agency Actions: Acting Commissioner Dudek also published online a summary of select agency challenges, options presented, and the Acting Commissioner’s ultimate decisions. National 800 Number Wait Times: The American people do not receive the prompt customer service they deserve when calling the agency’s 800 number. Despite the knowledge, dedication, and experience of SSA’s telephone representatives, customers wait too long to speak with a representative. People deserve to know the wait time challenges they will face if unable to use the agency’s secure and convenient online services. Acting Commissioner Dudek is increasing the level of detail shared with the public to provide an honest and transparent view of wait times. Efficiencies and Cost Avoidance: SSA works closely with the General Services Administration to identify unused and underutilized office space. SSA published its Efficiencies and Cost Avoidance webpage that lists soft-term lease terminations, including an explanation for each location and whether any change affects the public or not. For nearly all locations, the space being terminated is only a small room within the larger Social Security office location.
Workforce Update: SSA identified opportunities to optimize its workforce by offering voluntary opportunities to depart the agency or move to a frontline customer service position. This comment is meant for my president Mr Donald Trump. Sir I am a 75 year old man who’s going through a lot of medical issues and I have been burdened with medical copays for doctors and prescriptions to where I can no longer afford to feed myself. There’s another lady in our complex that is older than me and hasn’t had enough money from her social security to pay her bills and buy her groceries so I have been helping her whenever I can each month to buy her groceries. With the inflation the way it has gotten in the past few years it has caused our retirement to become a nightmare we worry about the rent going up again this coming year on whether or not we’ll even be able to afford housing. Sir if it is possible with the inflation being what it is for the price of gas, groceries, rent Etc. I can no longer afford my medication for my illnesses feed myself and help the 78-year-old woman next to me so she will have food for the month. Please help us please allow the Social Security benefits to increase. You are only hope God bless you Mr Trump

Wait time is a good thing for all people who are on Social Security, but the mistakes they make affects people and their Social Security checks because they don’t catch the issue in like the changes of your insurance. Every time that I’ve had to call the Social Security office.,they always tell me that there was a glitch in their system or they didn’t catch it in time but you know what it effects my SS because of their mistakes or glitches. I’m getting less now compared to what I was getting when I retired. Just hope they will be accountable for their mistakes and glitches AND NOT THE PEOPLE ON SOCIAL SECURITY.

For 7 months, I have been trying to resolve an issue with social security’s first year ruling” for my survivor benefits. They say I owe $1619 due to making to much the first year I received benefits. I have appealed twice with the first year ruling, I have made phone appts only to be told they can’t help me that I need to make a local appt. One call I waited two months for, the guy said. I only handle disability. This has been a nightmare. Not only am I making less than what I was originally receiving, but now Soc sec is taking out $161 a month that the Tulsa ok office rep (Mindy) said they shouldn’t be doing. My local rep appealed for me to receive my full monthly amount and said the first year ruling should apply. The original person even told me when I asked about making more than the avg per month. She said the first year ruling applied.i can’t seem to get anyone to help with this issue. I was told to make an appt online after 3 visits of waiting in my local office for 4-5 hours. Yet, I can’t find anywhere on the site how you can book a physical appt.

I do not trust our government with OUR money . They have been ravenous to get their hands on money that is not an entitlement it is our money. They have mismanaged it every way they could get away. Using it for boondoggles and useless wars. These billionaires who are bought by their peers to ruin the great country and that the chamber of commerce has been hell bent to end the powers and protections citizens had. We no longer have anyone looking out for the working citizen who is the spirit and backbone of this nation. Who would have thought a billionaire would enlist the help of a foreigner to dismantle our unique and freedom loving style of government formerly protected by the constitution which I’m sure Trump has little knowledge of. Every man in my family (including in laws served to protect this nation). Trump and Musk are happily destroying it all.

My husband and I appreciate the streamlining and communication about the changes going on at the SSA. I have always experienced kind service and am grateful for the new policies of transparency… I hope that under new leadership, the quality, hard working employees will be able to do a great job, and that any employees who are not pulling their weight and dragging down the good employees will be able to find employment elsewhere. All the best to our dedicated helpers during this time of transition. I pray that God will guide each and every person, customer and employees to the best results in all their situations and activities.

Clearly, when evaluating the benefits of DOGEing an entire department as important as SSA, the tRUMP/Musk administration realized it was an unpopular idea. So, they pretend that the concern is the people and negating people that “abuse” the system, when they are actually focused on becoming richer. Bonus points for switching most services to online, so folks that have the most difficult time with tech are completely dependent on it.
