I received a call about 15 minutes ago from the ‘Social Security Administration’ claiming there had been fraudulent activity on my number. The first thing they asked me for was my ssno and birthdate. When I said no way, they hung up. The phone number was: 1 410 883 0997.

My problem is that I am actually *waiting* for a call from the SSA in regard to SSI benefits (I recently won my medical appeal), and I got a call from 219-209-3474 claiming that this was their final attempt to get in touch with me. I called them back, but instead of giving THEM information, I *asked* for my information–because Social Security should know SOMETHING about me if they’re calling my registered phone number, right? And some guy with a foreign accent spouted off an address that’s almost 20 years old–something ANYONE could Google. Since I have an open case and I have received recent correspondence, I *know* that you guys have my *current* address.

But I am still frightened to death that I might have made a mistake and hung up on the Real SSA. 🙁
