man smiling and looking at laptop Social Security is here with tools and information to help you secure today and tomorrow. Did you know that you can pay your Medicare premiums online? If your bank offers the option to pay your bills online, you can use their service to pay for your Medicare premiums bill from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

You, or your representative, must sign up for your bank’s online bill payment process and you can contact your bank directly for assistance. Social Security and CMS are not involved in establishing the online bill pay service with your bank. Before you contact your bank to set up the process, make sure you have the following information available:

  1. Amount of your Medicare premium bill
  2. Account number: Medicare claim number without dashes. You can find this number on the red, white, and blue Medicare card.
  3. Biller name: CMS Medicare Insurance
  4. Biller’s address:

Medicare Premium Collection Center
P.O. Box 790355
St. Louis, MO 63179-0355

You’ll need to tell the bank how much money to deduct from your account to pay for the Medicare premium. You’ll also need to update the amount with your bank whenever there is a change in the Medicare premium amount. This usually happens in January when CMS announces the new Medicare premium rates. You can find more information at Medicare.gov or CMS’s online bill pay webpage.

Remember, CMS does not charge a fee for processing the electronic payments, but in some situations, a bank may charge their customers a fee for using their online bill payment service. If you have any questions about bill pay, please contact your bank or financial institution directly. You can also visit CMS’s  online bill pay for more information on paying your Medicare premiums.

I have a question. I have recently started taking SS benefits. My husband is now receiving 1/2 of my PIA. He has been paying his medicar B through his office since he turned 65 three years ago. Should he continue to do that or should it just be taken out of the check coming in each month? Does CMS have a record of payments made? Other than the retro checks the first actually SS benefits check wont be paid until April…..will his Medicar B start to be deducted then?

Hi, Grace. For your husband’s security, we do not have access to private information in this venue. We ask that members in our Blog community to work with our offices with specific questions. He can call us at 1-800-772-1213, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., for assistance. Generally, he will have a shorter wait if he calls later in the day. Did not receive a benefit payment due to insufficient IRMAA deductions from previous years. On-line My SSA site shows no entry for this month. Bank shows no deposit this month. How can we obtain a detailed statement showing benefit payment, Medicare Part B and D deductions, IRMAA deductions, and Taxes withheld by month. Also, how can we obtain the detailed calculation of how the past due IRMAA amount was calculated. While working we got pay stubs showing the details. We are unable to get this information for social security payment.

In 2017 my aged mother’s Medicare premiums withheld was $4,180 against total Social Security Benefits of $17,072. What would be the increase in Medicare premiums withheld in 2018.

Help. I find it difficult to get information from your website.
    1. I need to know is how to enroll for Medicare Part A when I already have Medicare Parts B and C, and how to pay the premiums for all. I have searched the website for nearly an hour.

    2. I have forgotten all my online account information including security questions so cannot log on as information does not match, and that is a problem!

    3. Further I no longer use the email I used when I first set up the online account so that is another problem.

Maybe I am doing something wrong. Your guidance please.

Our Discover credit card was fraudulently used and it is the number that I sent you to pay for my 6 month premium. That card number has been cancelled and a new one issued. I need to update the new credit card number to charge the six month premium.
