No Need to Visit a Field Office: Replace Your SSA-1099 Benefit Statement Online

The Benefit Statement is also known as the SSA-1099 or the SSA-1042S. Now you have the ability to download it anytime and anywhere you want using our online services. There’s no need to visit a field office.
An SSA-1099 is a tax form Social Security mails each year in January to people who receive Social Security benefits. It shows the total amount of benefits you received from Social Security in the previous year so you know how much Social Security income to report to IRS on your tax return.
If you currently live in the United States and you need a replacement form SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S, simply go online and request an instant, printable replacement form with a personal my Social Security account.
A replacement SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S is typically available for the previous tax year after February 1.
If you already have a personal my Social Security account, you should access your online account and go to “Replacements Documents” to view and print your SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S. If you don’t have access to a printer, you can save the document on your computer or laptop and email it. If you don’t have a personal my Social Security account, creating a secure account is very easy to do and usually takes less than 15 minutes.
If you’re a noncitizen who lives outside of the United States and you received or repaid Social Security benefits last year, we will send you form SSA-1042S instead. The forms SSA-1099 and SSA-1042S are not available for people who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Hi Leo. Most beneficiaries can check out their COLA notice in the Message Center of their my Social Security account. You will also receive this COLA notice by mail in December. The mailings are staggered. In the future, you will have a choice of online or paper notification. For more details, check out our Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) Information web page.
If you need to update your address, you can also use your personal my Social Security account to do that.
If you are unable to change your address online, you can:
•Call us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; or
•Contact your local Social Security office.

Remember, most Social Security services do not require a visit to a local office. Many services, including applying for retirement, disability or Medicare benefits, signing up for direct deposit, replacing a Medicare card, obtaining a proof of income letter or informing us of a change of address or telephone number are conveniently available at our website. Hello Betty. In December 2018, Social Security COLA notices will be available online to most beneficiaries in the Message Center of their my Social Security.
You will still receive your COLA notice by mail this year, but in the future you will be able to choose whether you receive your notice online instead of on paper. For more details about the new COLA, visit http://www.ssa.gov/cola. Thanks!

Cut the crap please, all I want to do is print my benefits award letter. Why Can’t you people think like we do and put all of the printable important documents in one place on the front page and highlighted for easy find and print.
Why do we have to read all of the other crap when we are in a hurry to provide the benefit award letter to any organization for “necessary” immediate help?
Why do you make the public play CHESS with our website to find the Social Security and or Social Security Disability Award letter ??
Please put the printable award letters on the front page so we don’t have to hunt for the damn thing.

I am curently trying to reduce the property taxs I have, and they are requiering an origanal copy of the award letter of dissability in you sent me in 09. I can not find that and I’m asking you for a new original letter showing date of dissabilaty jan/1/09, but if you do not have a way to send me one via ù.s. postal service I will not be able to respond back with the county auditor quikley enough to reduce my propperty tax. Hi Kippi, thank you for your question. If you need proof that you are receiving Social Security benefits, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and/or Medicare, or that you are not getting benefits, you can request a benefit verification letter online by using your personal my Social Security account.
You will need to provide some personal information to verify your identity, choose a username and password and follow the rest of the steps to finish creating your account. Once you create your account, scroll down to the Benefits and Payments section and choose “get benefit verification letter” where you can instantly view, print, or save your official letter.
If you are unable to create an account or encounter a problem, you may call us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. At the voice prompt, say “helpdesk” or you can contact your local Social Security office.
