Please help. Im desperate. I cannot get thru to the SSA by phone, (over 120 minute wait or “call back at a later time”) on line there are no options for help. My “local” office is not near and they dont take appointments I cannot take time off work to sit all day in an SSA office where I may not see anyone that day. I have written detailed letters with forms 5 times since June of this year with no response. In 19 months SSA has made 6 errors in their calculations of my SS retirement and continues to decrease my payments, (the explanations not at all identifiable) now they want me to pay back $7500 (for now, as it keeps changing) in overpayment which are from the errors they made, in their calculations, which I would have no idea of correctness or what they did. I work part time minimum wage, supporting myself and my husband who has disabilities. I have advised them I don’t have any resources to pay back my own benefit. They just keep sending me letters with more mistakes, the most recent now is errors they’ve made in my medicare payments. I don’t know if this is fraud or not because clearly something is very wrong with them making so many errors that I have no control over. They have ignored the many letters and requests for reconsideration Ive sent, accept to tell me they will “take my request to the next level of review” which they clearly have not done.
This is truly disturbing and my only other option is to turn it over to the Attorney General because something is very wrong. Please tell me what I have to do to resolve this.

Hi, Susan. Thanks for reading our blog. We are very sorry to hear this. For your security, we do not have access to your private information in this venue. To speak with a representative about your overpayment, you can call us at 1-800-772-1213, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. You can also contact your local Social Security office. Ask to speak to a supervisor on your next call. Generally, you will have a shorter wait if you call later in the day. We hope this helps.
