Commissioner of Social Security Shares Update about COVID-19 Economic Impact Payments for Beneficiaries

“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

I think he counted me as a dependent on his income tax , but when he received his stimulus check nothing was sent for me. Nor did I receive my stimulus check . Would you please check this out for me!     Yes I’m a very concerned United States citizen who has been taking care of both my mother and sister whom are both receiving SSA and have been for many years now. I receive no outside assistance no food stamps and I don’t get any Financial help outside of whats received on their monthly SSA benefits. Now to get to the main reason I’m here! I’m hitting a brick wall I can’t use the non filers forum as both of them are getting SSA by direct express card each month and aren’t required to file taxes! The website clearly states not to use the IRS non filers tool if we already have SSA it states to take no action that we will receive the stimulus the same manner they normally get their benefits . I myself am the son and have already signed up for the non filers forum and have received my stimulus check but as of now I haven’t revived anything for both my mother and sister whom both qualify for the stimulus as well! I spent 1300 plus last month for supplies and food alone! And now I’m broke I’m desperately seeking help! I don’t have transportation due to the past flood which destroyed most of my area! My concern is I’m the payee for both my mother and sister and I fear that cause my name is on the direct express card I fear the system may be making an error thinking I’ve already got my payment because I used the non filers tool for myself and states that if I use the non filers tool then I wouldn’t receive my payment on my the card which is obvious! But as stated they get their payments at the same time each month and of course on the same card.     My name is Deborah Moorer (ssidi) and I have not recieved stimulus payment of $1200 dollars yet. How can I get my payment asap. My birthday is 11/03/1964. I keep checking with the bank and no payment has been deposited yet.
