“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

If You Claim Your Mother, As A Dependent On Your Taxes. Will She Still Get A Check? She Is On Social Security?

    • Carolyn

Sadly, NO. Wish it were otherwise. I really do not understand – as your dependent that tells me that he/she is low income and surely needs the payment. Maybe IRS can better explain to you: 800-479-1040 – I think that is the correct number. Good luck getting through. Go the IRS website and see what it has to say. GOOD LUCK !!!

  2. Jay

Will the 500 dollars per dependent’s/ children be figured in with this or only the person on ss.? To be clear does the 1099 list recipient’s dependent’s or only the recipient of ss.?

  3. jen

are the people on Supplemental Security Income even eligible for the economic impact payment at all? i am so confused it seems like we are but just not sure of how we will receive it.. or are we not even eligible?

  4. Jaime

Here is the question. My ssdi got stop which is a disability like ssi. On Feb. My check was going to payee services. Now since I don’t get disability. Would i have to do something and will payee get the check????

  5. Tony

I draw ssi and have never filed taxes will i get a stimulus check?

  6. Michael D.

I recieve ssi and ssdi and married with 3 kids. So does that mean I will get 3900 deposit into my bank account or will wife and kids get there’s mailed?

    • Jay C.

STOP procreating is the first damn thing you need to do!!

      • Spike

Got fixed after the 3rd, and also why is it any of you’re business on how many kids are this site have?

    • Victoria A.

Wondering same thing. Most of these comments are full of ignorance and people arguing.

      • Joshua A.

Also wondering. Nothing helpful here. Just a bunch of mouth breathers.

I think it’s pretty sad that if you get SSI and SSID you might have a problem with getting the stimulus check. SSI is given to people that didn’t make enough money just on SSID so they had to supplement the income for them. I think it’s pretty sad that the poorest of the poor may not get a stimulus check

    • Yee

SSDI will get their direct deposited into their account . SSI is having a problem as of now.

  8. Linda P.

I am so confused. Will ssi recipients get a stimulus are not? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see? I don’t see how they can leave anyone out. We are all impacted by this pandemic??

  9. Timothy L.

Here I was thinking that people on SSI were Social Security Benefrieces..

I voted against Hillary Clinton, so now we have Donald Trump as president. Whether you like him, agree with him or not, is not the issues at this time. The issue is, Mankind is currently facing an enormous task and situation that needs to be dealt with. Even the BEST and most KNOWLEDGABLE of our kind, cannot resolve this by a snap of a finger so we, a a community of humans need to work together, support each other and make all attempts possible to survive this Pandemic. When pointing fingers just remember this, “when you point your finger at someone there is three pointing back at you”. This is meant to express that blaming was never and will never be resolution. So lets´ band together and get as many of us as possible through this. I am not a fan of President Trump, but he too is not to blame for this pandemic. Maybe, just maybe, he will be wise enough to listen to his EXPERTS on the subject and help this country get through this. If you do not like President Trump, then this year you can vote to replace him. But for now, he is OUR president so let us hope and pray (for those inclined) that he seeks the advice and judgement of people who are better qualified to deal with the demands of this situation. Save the bickering and complaining for a time when we as a nation are not in distress. I am a Proud American and Disabled Veteran. TOGETHER we shall overcome.

Thank You For Your Kind Words Of Wisdom!! Very Well Said! Again, Thank You, No One Has Said It Better Than You!!

A voice of reason exists after all. As my mom always said, this to shall pass. I’ll be glad when it does, so everyone can go back to living their lives as normal. It feels weird being told to socially distance myself from others when I make it a point to do that anyway, but that’s neither here nor there. However, I do understand that humans are social by nature, so this quarantine is probably driving them nuts, especially if they’re extroverts (mom, I’m talking to you, even though you’re not on this forum, let alone know of its existence). I don’t know about the total impact on small businesses, but I certainly wish them the best as far as keeping themselves, their employees, and their services to their communities going. I know I’d miss several of the little family and individually owned places around me if they can’t reopen soon. It’s sad. I blame no one for the existence of the virus itself. We can all debate about who’s to blame for the spread of the virus, but it will get us nowhere. Bickering, panicking, and paranoia will not solve the problem or help anyone in need. Take a deep breath and face the unknown with unrelenting calm. With that being said, stay safe. I have anime to watch.
