Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department soon. People receiving benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here section to provide their information.

Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries with dependent children and who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Wednesday, April 22, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly. SSI recipients need to take this action by later this month; a specific date will be available soon.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If beneficiaries in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200. People would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge Social Security and SSI recipients with qualifying children who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Action Needed for Social Security Beneficiaries with Dependents and Who Do Not File Tax Returns to Receive $500 Per Child Payment

People with Direct Express debit cards who enter information at the IRS’s website should complete all of the mandatory questions, but they may leave the bank account information section blank as Treasury already has their Direct Express information on file.

Additionally, any new beneficiaries since January 1, 2020, of either Social Security or SSI benefits, who did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019, will also need to go to the IRS’s Non-Filers website to enter their information as they will not receive automatic payments from Treasury.

    Hi Vonda,
I’m an SS Retiree and a dis-abled Veteran, I have no dependent children, and my wife doesnt qualify because she is a Filipina and has no ITIN number or Soc Sec number. My SS retirement money is well below $12,200 per year so I’m not required to file a tax return. The IRS EIP Information Center aint worth moose pee to me, and all the updates from mid -March to this day tells me nothing new. It says I should have received a Direct Deposit on the 29th of April. The Get My Payment tool tells me payment status is unavailable. So here I am residing in the Philippines and I still have no EIP money. Please dont recommend I call the IRS because Ive tried and there is no live Agent to talk to. I have been under quarantine going on 9 weeks now, and my PTSD meds are not working very under this additional stress, so now what? Is there one POSITIVE thing you can tell me?

Hey Priscilla u greedy lowlife. They haven’t even passed a second stimulus and I hope they dont.

  5. Barbara W.

I just wanted to thank you for the stimulus check because everything is going up in price because people are trying to survive and it’s very hard on SSI and little Social Security I get less than $800 a month to live on and it’s hard to even to pay rent with that amount so I really appreciate that thank you God bless you and be safe

  6. Nicholas A.

I still have not received my $12,000 payment. I get SSI but do not file taxes and have no dependents. What should I do?

Hi Vonda, Regardless of what questions people are asking you, you give the same identical “canned” answer to everyone! It doesnt help, as the IRS EIP Info Center has updated at least a dozen times since March but the only thing that has really updated is the date of the update, all the info is the same! The telephone number you provide for the IRS 1-800-919-9835 has no LIVE agent to talk to, just a lot of recorded options to select from!

I receive Social Security Supplemental Income, my ex boyfriend claimed me as a dependent on his 2018 and 2019 taxes, in January 2019 we both had restraining orders against each other preventing any contact whatsoever, yet he still claimed me as a dependent in 2019, which prevents me from getting a stimulus check. Is there anything I can do so that I can receive a stimulus check?

    • Priscilla M.

Hi! I am a retired Social Security Recipient not married, no children and was given my federal benefits from the government in March or April. I filed my 1040 U.S. Individual IncomeTax Return in 2018 and 2019. Also have this Form SSA-1099- Social Security Benefit Statement. I just got my my first Stimulus payment of $1,200 two weeks ago and now I am just waiting for my second Stimulus payment that everyone is waiting for. Thank you!!,
