Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department soon. People receiving benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here section to provide their information.

Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries with dependent children and who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Wednesday, April 22, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly. SSI recipients need to take this action by later this month; a specific date will be available soon.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If beneficiaries in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200. People would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge Social Security and SSI recipients with qualifying children who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Action Needed for Social Security Beneficiaries with Dependents and Who Do Not File Tax Returns to Receive $500 Per Child Payment

People with Direct Express debit cards who enter information at the IRS’s website should complete all of the mandatory questions, but they may leave the bank account information section blank as Treasury already has their Direct Express information on file.

Additionally, any new beneficiaries since January 1, 2020, of either Social Security or SSI benefits, who did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019, will also need to go to the IRS’s Non-Filers website to enter their information as they will not receive automatic payments from Treasury.

I just read all but two others have till 9:00 am PT time to file for there extra 500.00 per child the other two are ssi and the va have a bit longer to file but i r s didn’t specify excatly that due date, i would do it quickly before 9:00am Pacific time, but the rest who dont have children need do nothing but wait and wait and wait !

    • Jess

Yeah but you know what I think that means? They are telling people to move it now, because those checks are going out. Maybe even tomorrow evening? SSI gets theirs after us so it makes sense they haven’t released a deadline date for them yet. Maybe that is the week after us

      • Peter

Yeah i agree on that, ssi are after ssdi. I think they said there starting on the wk of 24th and onwards towards to end of april then ssi starts first wk of may and onwards. @ an increase of 10,000.00 income level each wk on ward ie. Second wk be 20,000.00 and so forth lowest first to highest forward , thats what i read it was updated again just 2hrs ago, from the Commissioner of the Treasury

I was wondering and I know no one will know but just wondering peoples thoughts? They might pass a 2000 a month extra for people for a while, or make it so we don’t pay rent. While the 2000 seems unlikely, the rent could be realistic. But would it include people that live in public housing and pay 30% of their income?

    • Jess

Yeah I think that would be included. I mean why not? We would be getting the 2,000 if they passed that, so I would think yes. My rent is 240 a month and I will tell you, if that could be saved, even if it were just a few months, I would be SO thrilled! I could stock up on food, or have extra for delivery charges. I just cannot stiff those people… they risk their own health.

      • Peter

Jess 240.00 a month ? Lucky you i pay 1,250.00 a month nothing included, i pay my gas my electric, and pay cable n internet, and my phone, and buy food ! And feed my cat cant forget ? and i feed her tuna can and chicken can and 9 lives can But i live in a private home for myself not complaining could be worst and could be better be well and be safe

      • Lil

Im so sorty to say but we are not getting the 2000.00 a month. The 1200.00 is the only stim check we will receive.

    • Were t.

Of course they will, them people would get that 2,000 extra, and get this its not counted as income, and that being said housing cant touch it, but im sure they will try, and legally they cant touch it, heck they cant touch stimulus check ! But anyway its only just talks if they do decide on the next wave of economic stimulus boost

      • Jess

It would be a dream to have the 2,000. But I wonder, would everything sky rocket in price, with retailers knowing how much we all have? Defeats the purpose… but I noticed that one of the furniture stores has increased their prices quite a bit. Maybe trying to make up for the loss. They are not open right now, but you can buy from them online and get “curbside” delivery.

Because you know… I definitely want to be an extra 100 bucks on a couch and go drag it in from the curb.

        • Snoochie B.

Dayum! I’d be smoking more weed than Cheech, Chong, Snoop Dogg, Jay, Silent Bob, and Bob Marley COMBINED!!!

  3. Were t.

9 more days we all get paid Fa La La ,La La. La La La. ? Tis to be merry just our reg day

  4. Kim C.

Heck I’m afraid to ask anything but here it goes does anyone know if we will receive our check on our direct express cards and has anyone herd about when maybe ,I’m divorced and on disability only due to cancer. Thanks

    • Jess

Kim, they say so many different stories… first it was yes it would go on direct express, then it will be going to your bank account if you have one, and gave it to the irs. It is going to happen anytime after tomorrow, they have a deadline for ss people to file for dependants until tomorrow at noon I believe.

DON’T let the trolls scare you off. I think its literally 1 or 2 people maybe. BORED and desperate for their money also. No excuse, but this pandemic has obviously driven people mad.

    • Peter

Kim i read stimulus will go on direct express cards just as they normally receive benefits , check the card every so often and look for pending deposit of, as you would normally hear on it , i guess you know what the card is saying now , but that will change to pending of ! Just give it time , be well n safe

  5. Gary B.

I use Bank of america, I have social security retirement, no dependents, been retired for 14 years and I received a deposit tonight for 1200.00

Good luck everyone they are coming

    • Jess

what is the need to make legit looking posts full of lies? Gary Bacon, you did not receive any thing from stimulus. IRS is giving people until later today to file for their kids… how do they know that you do not have any to file for? They are not going to start sending money until after that deadline. Anyone with a working brain would realize that.

      • Gary B.

        FAAHHRT

    • Lil

      Yes they are..

  6. KEVIN C.

We are going to loose this country.

    • Steve C.

what will that matter when we are all dead?

  7. Michael

So are we supposed to take this END OF APRIL bull-shit as April 30? May 1st, midnight is more likely. WHILE THE GOVT SENDS CHECKS TO THE DEAD LIKE MY AUNT?! Thats honestly a huge slap in the face and it makes me sick. The dead don’t have to worry about bills and food source!!!!

    • erica h.

yep and the deads family can KEEP the money. extras for them, nothing for us

  8. Sarah

Can someone at ssa please tell me if we already filled out the non filers form and claimed a child and put their bank information down for deposit will it now go to the bank account or Direct Express card? It has already been accepted from the IRS since April 10 and you are now telling us to just fill it out and not put in that information. Why wouldn’t you tell us about that before now. This whole thing has become ridiculous with many people asking questions non stop with no answer to anything.

    • charlie

    • Mark L.

You are not getting it. It’s been cancelled.

    • Lil

The second round is for mai ly small businesses. We as citizens are not getting anorher stim check. IM disabled and still waiting on mine too. Hopefully u will get yours by the end of April if direct deposit

  10. Raymond M.

My dad died Sunday night. You have successfully kept one more person receiving the help they needed. He could have at least had a couple of decent meals before his death. Thank you, our family appreciates your lies and lack of compassion.

We will vote very differently come November.
