A COVID-19 Update from Our Commissioner

I want you to hear directly from me how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting our services. The first thing you should know is that we continue to pay benefits. Be aware that scammers may try to trick you into thinking the pandemic is stopping your Social Security payments but that is not true. Don’t be fooled.

To protect you and help stop the spread of this coronavirus, we cannot accept visitors in our offices at this time. There are several other ways you can get help. Many services are available online. If you have a critical need that you cannot address online, we can help you over the phone.

Please visit our website to find out what services we are continuing and which ones we are suspending, how to contact us, and important information about deadlines we are extending to ease the burden on you and medical providers during this pandemic.

    I am amazed at the ignorance of some of these post!
    First off, I worked from the time I was 14 until I was unable to work in my 50’s due to a head injury. Social Security is not a hand out! It is your money you contributed in every paycheck you received, money was taken out for SS & Medicare. With that, I think some of you just hate the fact that someone is getting something you aren’t. Well, if you would like to get bashed in the head to where you come close to dying, than you can get your SSI. Remember though, your quality of life will suck and you will live month to month.
    God forbid you need a scan or something that cost 200-300$, cause they want that money!
    And….everyone with a SS # will get the checks if they are in the income guidelines…cry babies!

    I got my stimulus today why 2239 instead of 2400

    People who get social security disability and retirement will get a stimulus check. But if they are married and only one gets social security disability or retirement and their spouse doesn’t and doesn’t work they need to file a tax return to get up to the max $2,400, otherwise they will only get up to the max $1,200. People who get SSI need to go to IRS.gov and go under Economic impact payment and fill out the form for people who don’t need to file a tax return to get their stimulus check.
    Although, those who get social security disability or work but don’t make much and let their parent or boyfriend or girlfriend claim them as a dependent because they didn’t make enough to file and they made a lot more will not get a stimulus check, although the person who claimed them will not get any stimulus payment for them. That right there does not make any sense to me because those people did contribute to our economy but they are giving the ones who did not work at all a stimulus check??

    Will stimulus checks be automatically deposited if social security recipient receives their social security by direct deposit on a Direct Express card?

    I am amazed how greedy, and how many people in the world take and want, and do not give concern for other humans.
    I see it every where in our daily lives.
    I receive S.S., it pays my bills, and feeds me, with nothing left over at the end of the month. I am just thankful for it. There is no savings.
    Come on people, can’ t you be thankful for what God gives you?

    Did any one on ssi file the simple tax return to get there simulation check? I am unclear if I have to file it or not….

For SSI recipients, especially those who have qualifying children under age 17, to receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments that you and your family are eligible for, go to the IRS’s Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info page and provide information about yourself and your qualifying children.
