What to Do If You’re Missing Economic Impact Payments

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) issued the third round of Economic Impact Payments (EIP) in April. Most Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients should have received their EIPs by now. If you, your eligible spouse, or eligible dependent did not receive their EIP – or full amount of the EIP – for this round or any previous round of EIPs, please read this carefully. We have information to share from the IRS to help you get that money.

To get any missing first or second EIPs, you’ll need to file a 2020 tax return with the IRS and claim the 2020 Recovery Rebate Credit (RRC) as soon as possible. You would need to file the 2020 tax return even if you have no income to report for 2020. When your tax return is processed, the IRS will pay the RRC as a tax refund. The IRS will send you any additional third EIP amount you are eligible for in 2021 separately.

If you already filed your 2020 tax return, you don’t need to do anything else. You can visit our Economic Impact Payments and Tax Credits page to learn more. Please share this with your family and friends—and post it on social media to help us spread the word.

If you have questions about tax-related topics and economic impact payments, please contact the IRS.

It’s all a bulls*:t lie !!! The Federal government and Social Security are pushing the blame back and forth to minimize HONEST ANSWERS AND EXPLANATION TO everyone still waiting for there economic relief from the Treasurey and the Biden administration. I ALSO DID NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING FOR THE FIRST OR SECOND ECONOMIC IMPACT PAYMENT. IT WENT STRAIGHT TO MY DIRECT EXPRESS CARD BECAUSE IVE BEEN DISABLED FOR YEARS ! NOTHINGS CHANGES EITHER AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY THIRD IMPACT PAYMENT YET BUT OTHERS ARE TALKING OF ALREADY GETTING THEIRS AND PLUS UP PAYMENTS. LMFAO What kind of help are you really doing here ???

EXACTLY! IT IS A BUNCH OF BS!!
I’VE BEEN ON SSDI FOR 12 YEARS AND WHERE’S MY CHECK WHILE EVERYBODY RECEIVED THEIRS??

The ones that hardly receive any money every month are the ones they’re forgetting needed just as bad as the other guy!! Trying to tell me that they just haven’t gotten to it yet it’s all a bunch of BS and I even filed taxes when I don’t have to!!!!!!
So there should not be any excuses whatsoever!!
      They have my correct address
      SO WHERE’S MY STIMULUS CHECK??

Hi Teresa, thank you for using our blog. The IRS, not Social Security, sends all economic impact payments. Unfortunately, our telephone representatives and social media team cannot answer your specific situation about payments. You can find the latest information available from the IRS website. If you don’t see the answer to your question, you can call the IRS’ payment hotline at 1-800-919-9835. Thanks!

These people at both its and sea are idiots. You will get no help from either one. Contact your congressman or senator or someone on the ways and means committee in congress. I received the first stimulus no problem not the second or third.filed a 2020 tax return when I don’t have to to get the second stimulus now called a rebate and it’s sitting in a black hole because in 2019 changed from nasty unaffordable healthcare act to being eligible for Medicare the idiots at healthcare marketplace renewed that plan and sent a copy of subsidized reconciliation form to idiots at irs which wasn’t included in my filing. I had to send the stupid form by fax and since February it’s in a black hole and nobody can tell you anything. Their excuse is “well we still have 2019 tax returns we haven’t processed”. They do not care about American Citizens just like the communists in this administration only care about foreigners. One of the results of this pandemic is how stupid the American people are, just like a bunch of sheep following all instructions to jump off the cliff. saw was supposed to have sent a file with ssa recipients to the idiots at its who didn’t they send that so many have not received the 2nd and 3rd ? And they CAN’T tell you anything????

It is a shame, the people who are at the lowest income levels are the people that have not received the eip payments as promised! My first payment came 5 months after the program started. I have not received the second or third payments as promised! Try to call the contact number offered!! This has been the worst program ever implemented by our government! I don’t know where to turn for assistance!

Someone who works at the location should call that number! I have spent over $150.00 on phone calls! Never given the same information twice!

    • Michael T.

I had the same problem! After completing my return for submission, I was told it couldn’t be submitted because I have a foreign address!

My Filipino wife should be able to collect my social security after I die without having to live in USA for five years. It is too expensive to live there.
Will someone try to change this please?
Also I can’t get s My Sociol Security Account online because it requires a USA address. Can someone change this also?
    Thankyou

  8. Sandy

We tried the free tax file option on the IRS webpage to get our stimulus payments but it would not go through with 0 earned income. We put in $1 and it worked perfectly.
