Social Security Administration LogoWe want to give you an update on our preparations for returning our employees to local Social Security offices, a process called reentry.

You may have seen a proposed reentry date of January 3, 2022 in the draft reentry plan that we provided to our unions, or in the media. While some executives reentered on December 1, we have not set a reentry date for the rest of the agency.

The best way to reach us is online at SSA.gov, or by calling our National 800 Number or a local Social Security office. At this time, please remember that we can only provide in-person service by appointment only for limited, critical issues. And we continue to hold voluntary hearings by online video and phone. We are taking steps to increase in-person help for people unable to complete their business online or by phone.

We will keep you updated on our reentry process.

    Good evening Social security administration,
I’m writing this letter regarding my ssn card lost. I tried so many ways but still didn’t get ss replacement card. I’ve tried online, wanted to create account but still didn’t get code. And I made calls so many times but still didn’t get responds and help from you that how I can replace a card. Please help me. Social security card is very important for me. I’m very scared if scams will find my card and if they will act illegal things like credits on my behalf. Please reply. Thank you.

I’m having the same with my replacement s.s card

Hi Marjory, thanks for reaching out. Check out our Frequently Asked Questions web page on how to apply for a replacement Social Security card. All submitted documents must be either originals or certified copies by the issuing agency. We cannot accept photocopies or notarized copies of documents. Our Social Security and Coronavirus web page, under “Social Security Numbers and Cards” heading, provides details on the documents you need to mail in with your Social Security card application to get a replacement card. We temporarily expanded our policy to accept secondary identity documents. Contact your local Social Security office or your local Social Security Card Center to find out your submission options. We hope this helps!

I am desperately trying to get my retirement application approved. It has been 6 weeks since it was submitted. Suppose to take 2-4 weeks. I am 65 and running out of money. Iam afraid to get my medication because I may not have money for food. I thought that I would have received my first payment by now or at least an approval. What do I need to do?
    Thank you

In Dec. 2021 I called several times on different days the local Indianapolis office. Right after announcement that there is long call waiting the system was disconnecting. Each and every call ends up same way. Do SSA have a knowledge that people are not able to connect via phone with local offices?

Hi Debra, thanks for using our blog. If you get Social Security, Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) or Civil Service benefits, your Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) premiums will get deducted from your benefit payment.

If you don’t get Social Security payments, RRB, or Civil Service benefits, you’ll get a bill called a “Medicare Premium Bill” (CMS-500). Medicare offers four ways to pay your Medicare bill.

If you have specific questions about your bill or the status of your Medicare coverage, call our toll free number at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY: 1-800-325-0778). Representatives are available Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.

How do you apply for expedited reinstatement of ssdi?
Is there an online application or request?

    • Bidyut D.

      Make apply to day D

    • Sandee

Call 800-772-1212 which is SSA’s national number. You could also file a new claim online and put in the comments you are LOOKING FOR AN EXPEDITED REINSTATEMENT OF BENEFITS. You do have to meet the criteria of having been on SS Disability in the past and it be within 5 years from the last check you got from SSA for disability. You must have also stopped working or reduced work below SGA. SSA representatives can help you if you call them. If you file online it will prompt SSA to contact you through mail or phone for more information.

  10. Suzanne M.

I cannot access my online account. I requested a password reset months ago and have not received it. I have CSRS offset and my income will be reduced in January if I have not completed my ss application.

    • Victoria

You’ll more than likely have to call your local office if it’s an emergency. If your cell phone number is registered to your account, call the national number. If not, ask for the number to your local office and let them know *specifically* that you never got your code and see how they can assist. (Maybe ask for a printout in addition to the application)
