Social Security Administration LogoWe want to give you an update on our preparations for returning our employees to local Social Security offices, a process called reentry.

You may have seen a proposed reentry date of January 3, 2022 in the draft reentry plan that we provided to our unions, or in the media. While some executives reentered on December 1, we have not set a reentry date for the rest of the agency.

The best way to reach us is online at SSA.gov, or by calling our National 800 Number or a local Social Security office. At this time, please remember that we can only provide in-person service by appointment only for limited, critical issues. And we continue to hold voluntary hearings by online video and phone. We are taking steps to increase in-person help for people unable to complete their business online or by phone.

We will keep you updated on our reentry process.

What’s happening with the Department of Education contacting Social Security for who is collecting SSDI for the automatic student loan discharge that President Biden declared? I was on SSDI for years until my 66th birthday on 10/25/1954 and then social security automatically transitioned me to Social Security retirement. Will Department of Education still get my records showing as disabled? I haven’t heard anything from them about my student loan being discharged.

    • Ann C.

Hi, Linda. You may want to contact the Department of Education to determine status of your student loan. Thanks!

  4. Michael L.

My name is Michael Lee Hill. I applied for my Social Security @ 62 years and 10 months, after I was without work as of March 2021. I received my first check in January 2022 for December 2021. I have since been put back on the payroll of Turn2 out of Baytown, TX.

How much am I allowed to earn before it starts affecting my Social Security check?

I know that my January 2022 check was for December 2021 and that my February for 2022 check will be for January 2022. I will not receive a check from Turn2 until January 28, 2022.

How much am I allowed to make before it starts affecting my Social Security payments.

Do I reports my earnings once I have received the maximum amount that I make in 2022 or do I contact Social Security before my maximum is reached?

Once I have reached the maximum earnings amount allowed for 2022, whatever that is, how is my Social Security affected? I have not received anything stating my maximum earnings for 2022.

Is it minus $2.00 for every $1.00 made? If my Social Security is suspended once I reach the maximum amount allowed in 2022, will I be able to reapply for Social Security or do I just need to call the Social Security in Tulsa,OK?

How many times am I allowed to reestablish or reapply for my Social Security?

Your assistance is greatly appreciated regarding my questions about my Social Security.

It is not allowing me to use the, I am not a robot, so that I can submit my questions.

When I filled out my Social Security paperwork to start receiving my Social Security check I didn’t put down that I receive 3 Retirement checks, one from Armco Steel, one from Sheffield Steel and one from Gerdau Ameristeel totally $1,122.67, monthly. I retired after working from these three companies. When I was hired on it was Armco Steel, then the company changes its name to Sheffield Steel and was later bought out by Gerdau Ameristeel. I retired after working over 30 years for these three companies. Same job, they just kept changing their name.

I am currently back working for Turn2 out of Baytown, TX as of January 17, 2022. I will receive my first check from Turn2 on January 28, 2022. Do I notify you weekly on my earnings, or do I notify you on the 10th of February 2022, or start notifying you after I have received my yearly maximum? I do not know what the maximum earnings per year are for me. I have never received that information from you.

I received my first check the 4th week in December 2021 for the month of November 2021. I understand that the checks that I have auto deposited on the 4th Wednesday of each month is the check for the previous month.

My wife Rebecca D Hill handles all of our finances and I, Michael L Hill give you my permission for you to talk to her regarding my questions and issues regarding my Social Security questions and concerns. She should be already on my original paperwork as a contact person. She also began drawing her Social Security in 2021 at the age of 62 years and 10 months.

I do not have a way to send you copies of my check stubs since Turn2 does not hand out check stubs and I do not have access to a printer. Turn2 uses UKG PRO. We pull up our account regarding the previous weeks gross pay and the withholdings. I can screenshot what UKG PRO sends us weekly and email those to you as an attachment if there is an email address that I can send them to. Do I wait until I have reached my yearly maximum earnings or do I report to you my earnings the 10th of every month?

Your assistance is greatly appreciated regarding my questions.

      • EJ f.

Michael – if you receive ss retirement income you can keep on working and make as much money as you are able to and it does not reduce your retirement ss retirement income. You need to tell HR you are receiving ss retirement so they won’t deduct ss from your paychecks any more. Best wishes for you and your wife. Enjoy your combined work and retirement

    • Ann C.

Hi, Michael. If you are under full retirement age for the entire year, we deduct $1 from your benefit payments for every $2 you earn above the annual limit. For 2022, that limit is $19,560. For more infomation, read our publication, How Work Affects Your Benefits. If you have additional specific questions, please contact us at 1-800-772-1213, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., for assistance. Generally, you will have a shorter wait if you call later in the day. You can also contact your local Social Security office. We hope this helps.

  6. Richard P.

hi – I would like to know if I can split my direct deposit for two different banks.

    Thanks

    • EJ i.

Richard – while you wait for SSA’s answer you could set up an automatic payment via Zelle through your bank now receiving your payment. The Zelle payment would move the amount you specify on a schedule you specify to your other account in another bank. If your bank does not use Zelle they probably use some other third party payment processing system similar to Zelle. Ask your bank. They can help you.

I am also so upset with the customer service…just like everyone else… just tell us you are not going to answer instead of hanging up when we get a representative that does not want to listen and hangs up. i had a reps name and number left i do not know how many messages and never got a return call or letter. There should be another way to communicate.

    • Ann C.

Hi, Pamela. We are sorry to hear about your experience. You can submit feedback by visiting our Contact Social Security page. Once there, select the “Email Us” link. This will take you to the “Email A Question to our Support Team” form where you can complete and submit a compliment, complaint, or suggestion. We hope this helps.

With all of these negative comments, I would be wasting my time by leaving another one. I agree
with all of the previous comments. when one holds on long enough, the jerk does not give the correct or enough information to get into one,s account. I suggest

  10. Ann E.

Can’t sign in, waited on phone for call back and was told someone would call me back within an hour. After 2 hours and forty five fivenutes, I got a call call and was told it was to late. Got a letter on how to change password, but impossible to do.

    This is ridiculous

    • Bartholomew A.

Anne, for the past 2-3 weeks my wife and I haven’t been able to log into our accounts. What the heck is going on? Can’t get thru to anybody. We keep getting a message saying “unable to process at this time” Really??
