Social Security Administration LogoWe want to give you an update on our preparations for returning our employees to local Social Security offices, a process called reentry.

You may have seen a proposed reentry date of January 3, 2022 in the draft reentry plan that we provided to our unions, or in the media. While some executives reentered on December 1, we have not set a reentry date for the rest of the agency.

The best way to reach us is online at SSA.gov, or by calling our National 800 Number or a local Social Security office. At this time, please remember that we can only provide in-person service by appointment only for limited, critical issues. And we continue to hold voluntary hearings by online video and phone. We are taking steps to increase in-person help for people unable to complete their business online or by phone.

We will keep you updated on our reentry process.

I want to say Thank You to those good people who work in my local office. There are two ladies in particular I talk to when I call and they are always friendly and helpful in every way. They made my transition to disability retirement so much easier for me. I appreciate them tremendously.
After reading some of the other chats, I know that I am blessed to have these ladies working here in Durant. But I am sorry for those people who are having a hard time right now because of Covid. It can be very frustrating.

I am trying to change my mailing address, but “My Profile” does not appear on the screen. How can this be corrected? Or, is there another way to change my address?

    • Ann C.

My mom has been receiving disability benefits for over 10 years & now during the worst part of her life one of my siblings passed away, social security Orlando (gatlin office) has been giving her the complete run around about her benefits. We have made call after call to get help and not one person calls back. Before her benefits were shut off we called and called to make sure the worker had all of her information. We were told yes just wait. In the process of waiting her benefits were terminated and she is having the hardest time getting them back turned back on. This has never been an issue; now so many ppl are having to deal with a big mess/problem. It’s not fair that a woman that has worked her life and has been receiving her benefits have so many issues today. SSA has cut off her insurance she cannot go to the doctor. Her medication cost do much I her kids cannot buy them for her. One script for seizures and schizophrenia is over $1500. I don’t know who to call or how to help her get help getting her insurance and benefits back. This is so sad and disappointing. Covid is ruining peoples lives out here and no one cares. She needs help

My mom myself & siblings received an eviction & will have no place to live at the end of this month January 2022. Someone needs to help because she did not have these issues before now. This office in Orlando is the worst and they are very rude to the disabled people calling the for help.

    • Ann C.

Hi, Lantravia. We are sorry to hear about your mother’s situation. For her security, we do not have access to private information in this venue. Please continue to work with her local office. She can ask to speak to a manager on her next call. We hope this is resolved soon.

I am trying to apply for a new social security number application for my kids as they have become permanent resident since October 2021. I have been calling my nearest local field office for the last three months and unfortunately am not able to connect to any phone agent which is very disappointing. Every single day i make a call within three to four times a day during different time period yet am not able to connect with any phone agent of that office which is even more frustrating. After so many phone attempts with that office i tried walk-in into that building, but the front door security personnels strictly didn’t allow me to enter the building unless i got an appointment confirmation and they were very much harsh in nature with me and others visiting that site. All i wanted is to seek an appointment for the next available date or any particular extension number to get connected with any of the field office agent to fix an appointment which they refuse to give any extension number or walk-in appointment for my case. Thereafter i called the national toll free number before holidays and after a long waiting period of 60 mins i finally got connected with one of the representative and then i explained her my entire case. There after she said some one from your local field office will call me on 30th December 2021 at 9:45 am which is the only next available date to speak with an agent in that office and she took all my information name, address, social security number etc. and then hung up the phone. I got a call from some toll free number on 30th December 2021 from the same field office agent and i told her that i would like to make a new application for my kids social security number then she asked me my kids permanent resident card USCIS# which i gave and then she said they haven’t been issued a new number hence i have to make a new application for both the beneficiaries. At the end of the conversation i asked her seeking appointment where i can come in with both the applications along with all the original supporting documents for the same. In a very rude manner she said you cant seek appointment with our office due to pandemic for making this application and if at all you still wanted to get this done leave both the applications along with all the original documents which is passport, permanent resident card, state ID, birth certificates for both the beneficiaries along with my permanent resident card, and passport as a proof of being a natural parent for both the applicants. I asked her that i cant leave my kids or my original documents with your office all i want is just any next available date appointment at any time during regular business hours and i can present myself with all the original documents needed or i can make a photo copy of all the documents get it notarised and leave them all with the applications in the drop box. She said we don’t accept photo copies only originals and you have no option except dropbox with the applications at their office they’ll verify and send them back within 6-8 weeks through certified mail. All i am asking is just a simple appointment for any day where i can bring in the applications with all the original supporting documents to make it easy and smooth unfortunately am not able to understand why is it so difficult with that office to deal with my case. Am very much clear from my side that i cant leave my or my kids original documents with any local Houston SSA field office as its my personal proprietary items and i can bring them along with the applications once am granted a appointment with this or any the other local field office in Houston. I would sincerely appreciate to take my matter on a serious note as i need my kids social security number at the earliest which will enable me to open bank accounts for my kids, state id, claim them as dependent during the filing of my yearly tax returns for tax credits and other benefits. With out their social security am unable to do anything further and i humbly request for an in person appointment only for my kids new social security number applications with any of the SSA Houston local field office. Thank you and optimistically hope someone heres me out loud.

Hello I’m trying to get my sister’s social security benefits fixed. She has cevphlsy since birth and was under our parents work history. But was changed for some reason. Iv called and asked for appointment. She has a payee but they don’t know her history and problems we have had in past. I’ve received a letter saying she owes a large amount of money. We were told she needs to appeal it but I’m having trouble getting through to office. Our phone service isn’t very good where we live. Texting and emailing is the best options for communication. Been put on hold for long times then when I got through phone hung up.

    • Ann C.

Hi, Linda. We are sorry to hear about your sister’s situation. For your security, we do not have access to private information in this venue. I have been trying to get help with my Social Security Disability for a VERY LONG TIME #1 My X and I owned a 50/50 INC business he decided w/o my knowledge due to separation/divorce to claim my 9+ years earnings and NO ONE will help me to get the earnings put back on my Full Disability I was awarded by Judge #2 I was then put on SSI due to X/claiming my earnings left me w/0’s its very hard to live on #3 cant seem to get a attorney due to already being a warded Full Disability? Where is it? #4 I had two women in June 2021 claiming they work for Social Security forced me to retire early I did not agree to it they were both so hateful and forceful (really this is what Government employees do?) they said I would now be on Social Security and Retirement @$ I have recieved letter after letter since then saying my monthly amount is decreasing different amounts for each letter then a letter saying I was over paid? HOW? I owe Social Security money? I cant pay I have just recieved another 1/10/2022 saying my monthly amount is decreasing and I owe this amount+ to Social Security a amount will be taken from the reduced monthly amount starting 2/1/2022 the letter before that had different amounts I only recieved a small amount 12/1/2021 then 1/1/2022 I finally recieved amount was told due to increase from BAD ECONOMY now last letter wants to decrease my monthly amount and raise the amount I owe? What is this I feel I have been scammed and very bad its out of this world to believe Soc. Sec. workers can do this and is said Government will never contact you by phone the day I recieved my last letter I called and a man answered I told him I had appt. 1/12/2022 (phone) but I really needed to come sit down w/someone to show my papers of proof OMG he started raising his voice to me so rude and hateful why am I being treated this way by Government employees they should be fired if thats the only way they can conduct business w/the public I have been done wrong and cant seem to get it corrected I am disabled and I need help getting my earnings put back on my soc sec so I can have my FULL DISABILITY to live on I have applied for Guildford Cares in 2020 they say it does not apply to covid? O yes there were problems finacially in 2020 when I went on my soc sec page today its a whole new completely different problem and is not correct saying I didnt recieve anything in 2020 I know times are hard but The Government is another problem in itself! Hateful supposed employees and letters from soc sec each w/different amounts being taken away from me? How are Americans born & raised in this country suppose to get the help they need? Its impossible and its down right a embarrasement to Government the social security letters say there are people from there? that can represent me I need a honest one is that possible because no attorney will help because I have already been told I was awarded FULL DISABILITY $$$$$ how do I get a appointment to sit down w/someone to get this straightened out? IN NEED OF HELP A Ms Bittle just called me for my “appointment” couldnt get anything accomplished she only had little time I seriously need to sit down w/a supervisor to get this fixed. I have been advised to contact a area director/regional commisioner in Atlanta can I get some assistance this is too complicated to do over the phone to someone I dont know is a REAL Social Security worker or not this is very sad and honestly not helping my already mental/physical problems due to domestic violence and abuse from the X that claimed all my earnings from our 9+ yr. INC business I did the INCORPERATION for a reason and paid for it each and every month now Im just being taken advantage of more and more as time goes on is there ANYONE that can correct this problem? Im tired of having to live this way due to a X that did a lot of damage to my two children and myself he just keeps getting away with MURDER its NOT RIGHT who do I need to go to to get this MESS FIXED?

    • penny

it says on Social Security page “we can only provide in-person service by appointment only for limited, critical issues.” Well how do I get appointment?

      • penny

supposed employees @ Social Security hang up on you after raising their voice being so hateful and forceful I have a problem and I need a rep. to help speak for me I dont have money for a lawyer and the ones I have contacted wont help you if you have been told you have recieved disability cause they wont get all the $$$$$ to tell the judge your problems to convince the judge you are disabled how can I get someone to listen to my case and help speak for me? This government has a big problem and its not all covid…. I went on my social security yesterday I have had 2020 earnings turned into 0’s and more 2011-2021 says $0 earnings also 2003-1989 $0 somebody has scammed me or the employees dont have a clue what they are doing one page shows all my earnings well except for the 9 yrs. X claimed my 9 yrs. earnings of our 50/50 INCORPERATED BUSINES just gotten away w/murder as usual I now know that is to be dealt with by IRS ‘O JOY….as if domestic violence & abuse werent enuff from this person he has done a lot of damage to my 2 kids and myself but its ok for him to claim my earnings when I ran the business he used it a Limousine Service 50/50 INC that means that half of all the earnings were to go on MY earnings put on my Social Security to be able to get my FULL DISABILITY back? Cant get that corrected I did that for a reason and paid a high price for it each month why has this not been corrected along with all these different amounts Social Security keeps sending letters each w/a different amount they are going to give me (lowered)and somehow amungst the lowered monthly payments they have a new high payment they are gonna take starting Feb.1 2022 how do I pay the bills that cant seem to get put back on my earnings can someone explain this problem & how after being told by mail I owed Social Security money for overpayment I would really like to know how when I went on my social security yesterday it said $0 overpayment today there is a $1300.00? amount some supposed amount Im suppose to owe a higher amount and a less amount for my monthly income for bills I dont owe if I was over paid I would really like to know how and it was NOT my fault they say they over paid me that lies on Social Security worker NOT ME! How when you can barely live on what Social Security amount they decide to give you when you are suppose to be recieving FULL DISABILITY However as I wrote a hand written letter I have not been informed it was recieved and waited for someone from Social Security to answer phone I was fortunate to get a nice speaking women her name is Marlana Carrington and I thank her very much for some help w/info THANK GOD now why cant all employees of Social Security a Government business help you like this lady just helped me problem not solved but still working on it I wont give up til its fixed!

Contact your Congressman’s office for help. They will contact your local field office and light a fire under them. No office manager wants a “Congressional.” who is NC congressioner?

    • Anthony R.

Your best bet is to contact your local congressman, they will help you through the process.

    • Deborah M.

I worked for SSA for 30 years. Contact your Congressman’s office for help. They will contact your local field office and light a fire under them. No office manager wants a “Congressional.”

    Hello!
I applied for benefits on Nov 02, 2021. Sent the requested original proof of identity to your Office of Central Operations in Baltimore and have already received the originals back.
On Jan 05, 2022 I received an e-mail from: donotreply@ssa.gov asking me to call this telephone number: 410-966-3604 before Jan 20, 2022.
I have called four times, morning and afternoon, and all I get is an answering machine where Agent Chatman (I believe that is her name) Says that she is not available, prompts me to leave a message with a telephone number where to call me back.
I have done that four times already but have never received a call back from her and the deadline is fast approaching.
Please let me know what else I can do, I log in the SSN page almost daily and look for messages but there are none. Thanks for responding to this ASAP.
