Social Security Administration LogoWe want to give you an update on our preparations for returning our employees to local Social Security offices, a process called reentry.

You may have seen a proposed reentry date of January 3, 2022 in the draft reentry plan that we provided to our unions, or in the media. While some executives reentered on December 1, we have not set a reentry date for the rest of the agency.

The best way to reach us is online at SSA.gov, or by calling our National 800 Number or a local Social Security office. At this time, please remember that we can only provide in-person service by appointment only for limited, critical issues. And we continue to hold voluntary hearings by online video and phone. We are taking steps to increase in-person help for people unable to complete their business online or by phone.

We will keep you updated on our reentry process.

Our local office here in Bend has been closed for years,
since March 20, 2020. It would be hard to express how
exasperating and insulting this is to all the good citizens who
pay your wages. And probably, those “at home workers(?)”
got a raise or even two during this time, while the rest of us scrape and suffer to get by.

It is absolutely RIDICULOUS that we still cannot go into an office! It makes no sense at all. AMERICA IS OPEN! Stop all this nonsense and excuse making and open your offices! Every other place is open. Grow up.

I need to get a replacement card. However, I do not feel secure in mailing id information. I was told I can not complete this online since I live in Washington state. What are my options? My application is completed. I just need my id verified.

I filed for social security Nov 18 said it would take 2 to 4 weeks still says they are on step 2 review why? I totally qualify way beyond my retirement age no money coming in what are people to do? Our government is failing our people they to will be in our shoes someday!

My social security payments were temporarily suspended in November of last year because I hadn’t sent in updated documents for my pension offset. I sent the papers in the day I got them from my the people who control my retirement. They were sent registered mail and picked up at the end of November. I have called several timed and no action has been taken. I am now out of pocket because I had to pay my medicare premiums(4 months worth) that social security usually paid. When can I expect it to be reinstated? I live on a fixed budget and am running out.

These offices need to reopen now. Everyone else has been back to work for months and thus is the ONLY government agency still shuttered. We keep being told things can be handled by phone or online. No, many of them can’t and I have called and called and called and EVERY time I am put on hold for 20+ minutes then disconnected. WE CANT MAKE APPOINTMENTS BECAUSE YOUR “WORKERS”WONT ANSWER THE PHONE! This is appalling and it’s beyond ridiculous!

Amen … as executor of my sister’s estate and trying to apply for SS myself at the same time it has been a nightmare with a perfectly new facility simply sitting closed and no way to even drop off paper work at the office from the outside like a drop box or such.

    • Brent T.

You’re talking to a government website you really think they care what you want them to do.

    • CK

Yep! It is so out of control what has happened. Football stadiums are packed. For much of America life is back to normal as it should have been long ago. It’s time for places to stop using this virus as an excuse for everything. It’s disgusting.

I have been locked out of my online account for more than 6 months. Each time I am connected with a customer service rep after waiting in line for 1 or more hours, then I’m told to wait up to 2 more weeks to get a code mailed to me. No code was mailed. Ive called and had to wait in line as many as 10 times now. Each time Im told that I will receive a code in the mail and no code ever makes it to my mail box.

With you guys being shut down locally its hindering access to my social security account.

Im not able to make changes, address banking and routing change, address change and or update employment status, and more.

    • Va. S.

Exactly. I am in the same position.

      Very frustrating.

    • Stacy L.

Your not alone. It’s doing the same to me. I put my password in that I know is correct and it boots me out saying not correct. I’m aggravated with it all.

I have been trying to get an urgent appointment to get my 2 year old a social security card to add her to my insurance, and have yet to reach anyone. This is an urgent matter, and I do not feel comfortable “dropping off” her original birth documents along with my only Driver License and just wait for the to come back to me in the mail. Especially with how things have been with mail, fraud and scammers these COVID years. I need to know when I can go into the office to get her a replacement card, so I can add her to my health insurance.

  10. LaBlanche C.

I filed an appeal for my daughter on 11/17/2021 and still have not heard back from anyone from SSA. I’ve tried calling the local office but everytime I am put on hold then the phone hangs up. My daughter is disabled and really needs her Medicaid and I’m just looking for someone who can tell me what is going on with her case. Thank you for your time.

    • Ann C.
