I have a question about a medical fee why do I have to give a credit card for them to take $1.00 which I am told will be returned to me before I can get any answers?

    • Luis A.

Hi Mary. Please contact Medicare directly about medical fees. You may call them at 1-800-633-4227 (TTY 1-877-486-2048). For specific billing questions and questions about your claims, medical records, or expenses, log into MyMedicare.gov, or call us at 1-800-MEDICARE. If you want Medicare to be able to give your personal information to someone other than you, you need to fill out an “Authorization to Disclose Personal Health Information.” We hope this helps.

Good afternoon from overseas. Does this message mean that you have opened up access to create a “my account” by retired people living from overseas. This is probably more important for us. Hopefully, the answer is “yes”. Thanks so much!

    • Ann C.

Hi. Unfortunately, you must have a U.S. mailing address to access your online account. Since you are living outside of the U.S. you can contact your local Federal Benefits Unit for any assistance related to Social Security benefits. Also, our Office of International Operations home page provides more information to assist our customers living abroad. We hope this helps.

Request you consider adding an online feature that permits a retiree to set federal income tax withholding amounts from their monthly SSA payment. (W-4). Instead we have to submit a paper copy to the local SSA Office. FYI, OPM allows W-4 withholding adjustments via their website for federal retirees.

I noticed that on my Social Security check summary that there is a $269.49 charge that seems to appear for the last few months. Can you tell me what this charge is for?

It looks like this was carried over from last year, but not always.

    Thank you

    • PH

You should contact SSA via phone at (800) 772-1213 or visit your local office for assistance related to your question.

Though, from the amount you gave, it looks like it could be medicare premiums. In 2019 the standard premium was $135.50. Two months of premiums would be $271 which is pretty close to the number you gave. Just a guess. Really, no one on here is going to know or have access to that information which is why should call the 800 # or visit a field office.

    • Ann C.

Hi, William. For your security, we do not have access to private information in this venue. We ask that members in our Blog community work with our offices with specific questions. You can call us at 1-800-772-1213, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., for assistance. Generally, you will have a shorter wait if you call later in the day. You can also contact your local Social Security office. We hope this helps.

I would like to see if I can get some help with medical coverage.

    • Ann C.

Hi, Mitchell. To request more information about Medicaid or Medicare, call the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services at 1-800-633-4227 (TTY, 1-877-486-2048). We hope this helps.

How can I be sure my information is secure when using the MY Social Security website? I simply want to apply for a replacement Social Security and don’t want my information compromised in any way.

    • WENDL O.
