Given that the data is fixed by 31 December, why cant social security provide 1099’s on the first of January?

    • Ann C.

Hi, Mark. Thanks for your question. The SSA-1099 is mailed by January 31 each year. If for any reason you do not receive your SSA-1099 in the mail by then, starting on February 1, 2023, you can request a replacement SSA-1099/1042S for Tax Year 2022 by visiting your personal my Social Security account. We hope this helps.

    Hi,
I am a US Citizen working in Ontario, Canada for a Canadian Employer since late 2019. I previously worked in the US for 30+ years. My earnings record does not reflect my earnings in Canada, as expected. I have a vague notion that there is an agreement between the US and Canada where my earnings in Canada will ultimately be included in my FRA benefit calculation. How do I get my earning record corrected to reflect my Canadian earnings?
    thank you

    • Ann C.

Hi, Patrick. Thanks for visiting our blog. Since you are living outside of the U.S., please contact your local  Federal Benefits Unit for any assistance related to Social Security benefits. Also, our Office of International Operations home page provides more information to assist our customers living abroad. We hope this helps.

I need help because in 2013 I got rated as 100%service connected disability and it is permanent.I had filed a claim for disability with social security before that happened and was told I could get social security and VA benefits both so I waited till I was 64 in 2021 to file for retirement benefits and I found out that wasn’t true what do I do now.

    • Tony

If you are 64, then you need 40 work credits to be eligible for Social Security retirement.

Too many people are working under the table for cash and pay the consequences later.

You need to go back to work paying Federal, Medicare, and FICA taxes until you reach 40 work credits if you want to collect Social Security retirement.

    • Ann C.

Yes, I would, appreciate a password, online
sooner, than by postal mail. SSA mail
    takes 5 to 10 days.

can an employer give an employee a w-2 with a different employer address that appears on the form 941? In other words the employer’s address on w-3 and form 941 is the employers residence address and is not the business address. The employer wants the employees copies of the w-2 to be the business address.

    • Ann C.

Hi, Joseph. Thanks for visiting our blog. For tax questions, you will need to contact the IRS. Their toll-free number is 1-800-829-1040 or you can visit their website. We hope this information is helpful.
