Social Security Administration LogoI’m excited that, starting in early April, we will add more in-person appointments and offer in-person service for people without an appointment.

During the pandemic, millions of people used our secure and convenient online services, and received help by phone and in our offices by appointment. For people who can access our services online or by phone, we ask that they continue to do business with us online or by phone and schedule an appointment, when possible, which will better allow us to timely serve people who cannot use those options.

I invite you to visit our website to learn:

  • The best ways to get help from Social Security.
  • What you should know before you visit a Social Security office, so we can help you safely.
  • Innovative options that could help you have your hearing sooner if you are appealing a decision.

We are committed to helping as many people as possible as safely as possible.

I mail a request for Numident Printout Record the end of
2021 it is now almost four months later no report. I understand things are slow because of Covid . Waiting four months for a reply is to long for any agency.

    Hello,

I am happy to hear life for you might soon be returning to some semblance of normalcy, as well as for SSA beneficiaries who either require or prefer the personal touch.

I’ve a question regarding status updates, and until the local offices again open, have all-but given up in frustration trying to do so via phone (when I can manage to get through).

I filed a non-medical Request for Reconsideration online, 11/20/21. This concerns a recent recalculation of my SSA RIB monthly benefit (it represented an underpayment).

To date, the Request remained at the local Field Office for seven weeks, before being transferred to the WPSC (I was told the FOs do not handle benefit amount issues). The Request has been in pending status since 01/10/22, when it was transferred. I have not be able to obtain any form of update regarding my Request, other than it remains pending at WPSC, two months after receipt. And as there is no mention of my Request in the my Social Security account, I’ve no choice but to telephone, which is rarely successful.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated, for I have no idea why a simple recalculation of my benefits would require so much time, and would simply like to know my Request has at least been reviewed, and is not dormant somewhere within the system, as it was previously at the local FO.

    Thank you.

Hi, Robert. We are sorry to hear about your experience. We are currently having problems with our phone lines. You may experience service issues, including poor call quality, dropped calls, and long wait times. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and we appreciate your patience. For your security, we do not have access to private information in this venue. We encourage you to continue to work with your local Social Security office. You can ask to speak to a supervisor on your next call. We hope this is resolved soon.

Hi, Rachel. Thanks for the feedback. We continue to provide help in our offices by appointment only. In early April, local Social Security offices plan to add more in-person appointments and will again offer in-person service for people without an appointment. We have not set an exact date in April.  Visit How to Get Help from Social Security to learn more, including what to know if you need to visit an office. We hope this helps.

I’m just happy the SSA are returning back to work! I understand keeping a person’s financial well being. In a cooperative balance is a job slash career itself. Glad you are safe and back on board!

SSA should make appointment procedure easy for seniors
    Particularly people over 70 years

It is about time your staff returns to the office. The service during Covid was lacking quality. There is no substitute for a face to face conversation between employee and customer.

  10. Ryan

I would hope SSA will institute an appointment system for us, we don’t want to be sardines in the lobby while we wait to be seen!
