Supplemental Security Income Recipients, Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department in early May. People receiving SSI benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Your Information section to provide their information. SSI recipients who have dependent children and did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Tuesday, May 5, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If people in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200 only. They would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge SSI recipients with qualifying children and who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Lastly, a word of caution. Be aware of scams related to the Economic Impact Payments. There is no fee required to receive these payments. Don’t be fooled.

I receive S.S.I. only. I have neither debts, nor kids, nor am I claimed as a dependent. My Direct Express card says I have a pending payment for my regular S.S.I., but so far nothing is being said about any pending stimulus payment. When am I getting my stimulus payment? Are they waiting until after the 5th to put it on everyone’s Direct Express card? I was told it would be put on our Direct Express cards on the 1st, but I’m not hearing or seeing anything so far.

People on disability have not gotten theirs either, those with a DirectExpress or a regular debit card and bank account have not received it not just SSI
They are not going to be giving it to anyone of us until probably mid May

    • Victoria

Some people on here claim they get their stimulus on their direct express card

      • Elizabeth

I am on SSDI and have a Direct Express card nothing pending on it. In reading that some have received it I was beginning to think that I may not be but I’m still going to maintain a positive attitude that I will. Patience is a virtue.

    • J

SSI maybe. Ssdi will get ours sooner

      • Peter

Oh yeah sooner? Im still waiting ssdi. !

    • Terri

  7. Marie G.

I’m still waiting on my stimulus check I’m on supplemental SSI I’m wondering when I’m gonna get it

    • Creal

Let’s pray in hope that it will be on with our monthly check I’m also SSI

  8. Crral

Ok I been reading my little eyes away and this is what I’m thinking and hoping I’m thinking they are going to put the SSI check with our stimulus check in our account on may first and I’m talking about the non filers that’s on SSI and don’t have dependent and that doesn’t file taxes… SSDI and SS and RRB AND DISABILITY people should already should have got they cash already because they gave them a specific date… Now for us that receive SSI with no dependent or that don’t file taxes let’s hope and pray that it be on with our check Friday ?????

    • Cynthia L.

I really hope so it would really help me out with Bill’s and extra food etc.

  9. Rhonda

Are we talking about the second check. I didn’t qualify for first check bc my daughter claimed me. Will I qualify for second if I am on disability ?

    • Jason D.

      NO

    • Terri

Rhonda there is no 2nd stimulus check

      • Peter

Terri they are still in talks of the second one , so its. Who knows !

  10. Cynthia

I receive SSDI, I tried to file a tax return when we were told we had to. But it was rejected because I didn’t have all the info, tried to input non-filers info but that system wouldn’t work either. At this point I’m trying to take care of family whose not working / displaced and it doesn’t look like I’m getting a stimulus check. Just sad. Were the lowest paid population. We barely have toilet paper and essentials.

    • Tina

I’m in the same boat as you I need answers ASAP

    • Kay L.

I also receive SSDI. When it’s asking for the gross income just put zero and it will go through.

    • Cynthia

I have a regular bank account and can also see pending SSDI payment but that’s it. No dependents, no nothing.????
