Supplemental Security Income Recipients, Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department in early May. People receiving SSI benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Your Information section to provide their information. SSI recipients who have dependent children and did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Tuesday, May 5, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If people in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200 only. They would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge SSI recipients with qualifying children and who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Lastly, a word of caution. Be aware of scams related to the Economic Impact Payments. There is no fee required to receive these payments. Don’t be fooled.

    Additional Details:

Direct Express Card Holders: You may use the Non-Filer tool, but you will not receive your $1,200 payment on your Direct Express card. You will receive both your $1,200 payment and each child’s $500 payment on a non-Direct Express bank account you can provide, or by mail if you leave bank information empty.

For more information about the Economic Impact Payment, view Social Security Commissioner Saul’s recent blog post on the topic. ( any one let me know what is it mean ??

    • peter

What you said is correct, if direct express card holders use the non-filer tool they wont get it on the card but in the mail if they cant give an account of a bank . the non-filer was for people who claim dependant children for that 500 if they have no dependents we dont need do anything it will be on the direct express card on the due date that is 29th , i have read this many times irs web and the Treasury wed, not a news paper info and the latest said from the Treasury direct express cards will have it no later than the 29th of april and this was updated today 27th April

      • Creal

I’m just going to put it in God ? because us SSI people doesn’t have a date and everyone else does and I been getting SSI for 10 years and I don’t have a dependent so I’m just going to put it in God ✋ and hope it comes on the first to my direct deposit account stay blessed people ?

    • Sarah

I did the non filers and put my bank account info in with my dependant and my payment is going on my direct Express card the 29th so it didn’t go to my bank account

  5. FredFlintstone

I only receive S.S.I., I have no dependents, and I’m not claimed as a dependent by anyone. I have no child support debt. I have still not received my stimulus funds. Nothing on my card is saying “pending”.
Where are my funds? When will I get them.

  6. david

You should be able to enter it on the Get My Payment app at irs.gov , but I can’t guarantee it will let you.

  7. Tamsin a.
