Supplemental Security Income Recipients, Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department in early May. People receiving SSI benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Your Information section to provide their information. SSI recipients who have dependent children and did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Tuesday, May 5, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If people in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200 only. They would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge SSI recipients with qualifying children and who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Lastly, a word of caution. Be aware of scams related to the Economic Impact Payments. There is no fee required to receive these payments. Don’t be fooled.

  4. Irene C.

I live with my mom and she pays 95% of all the monthly expenses and claimed me on her taxes. I was going to start a job May 1st but the ball diamond I was going to work at is not able to open. Why am I unable to receive my funds? The announcement stated ALL Americans would receive these funds.

    • StopBeingLazy

That’s actually Not what was said. Read more. …or try reading period. Too many idiots are coming here and asking the same exact questions without being bothered to research anything themselves. That’s pure laziness and needs to stop.

    • Jones

  8. Carol E.

  9. Cheryl A.

I keep hearing different things I am on SSI no children so when will I get my check at first I heard early May then I heard not till the middle of May??

  10. Jess

Well guys they are starting to open the states back up, so it is highly unlikely we will get any additional checks. Which is too bad, because that would give us the ability to have everything we need delivered, safely through the pandemic. And its interesting how people are so foolish, there is no vaccine for this shit, and we are going to open back up? It only takes ONE infected person to start this madness all over again.

And to the idiots who continue to vomit all over this page how their shit doesn’t stink, and we don’t deserve anything. Fuck you guys. You have this ignorant unrealistic vision of what SSR/D/I are, lazy ass welfare collectors, when in fact, many of us are either retired and worked our asses off before you clowns were even in the work force, disabled, missing limbs, blind, deaf, mentally challenged, and cannot be in the work force or even people with psychological imbalances and shouldn’t be with people anyway, and yes, we/THEY need the assistance/are entitled to it. I really really don’t care whether you like it or not. We get it, and we will continue to. So kindly go jump in a lake.

    • C. W.

      Yes Jess yes !!!!!

    • Shawn

I love you? People are so judgemental these days & THRIVE on controversial issues. Good for you in STANDING YOUR GROUND ☺

      • Jess

Do not let them bother you, ever. Most of them are just bitter because they have to work. They do not have a clue what many of our lives really are. And some, don’t want to hear it anyway. They’d rather just bitch.

    • Jones

Wow!! You do make a good argument. You sound bitter

      • Jess

So… now I am bitter, for what? Not working? First we are lazy because we don’t work and we have it so “easy”, now we’re bitter at people that do have to work? Hmm, okay. We seriously cannot win.

Writing text can be taken in anyway, and because someone has no fear of saying what is on their mind, adds an obscenity or two, it doesn’t mean they are angry, shouting, hurt or anything else. I was stating my thoughts. And if you were in the same room as me, you would know I hold no anger or “bitterness”. What I do have is a lack of patience for the ignorance I keep seeing, on literally every other page. It’s like, I am just glad to know you people are so equipped to judge those of us you have never even met, and hopefully never will. /sarcasm. The last thing we need is a bunch of judgmental asshats in our lives.

      • peter

She’s not bitter she speaks the mind to say what IS

    • Linda

Amen to that ? I am a SSDI recipient work my ass off to all my life well they make 250,000 a year and look down on us and get killer benefits well God would take care of them.

    • peter

Wow jess are you pissed off at some? I can understand , we will always be looked down upon no matter what, it didnt matter if i join the service when back then and it didnt matter if i worked too and it didnt matter i went to get a degree to be better in more work but it seems to matter now that i collect benefits and them people put me down for it, put us all down , but you know jess someday those people will be in our shoes more or less in some way, i may not be around by then but they will find out how it is , and im still haven’t got that stimulus ck, it would have been nice to have, and over here no one is going anywhere to back to anything yet its growing upwards the virus, im surprise i haven’t caught it , but ok take care god bless

      • Jess

Its so true Peter. Sadly though, many of those people don’t have the mentality like that, when the time comes, to realize they are exactly where we were or feel any remorse for the way they treated those they feel they were above. But thats life. No, I’m not pissed off. Just tired of reading the same bs that “we don’t deserve anything” on every other page. Did you check the irs get my payment? Does it say the 29th?

        • peter

Yes jess its being saying for some time, but i have my doubts they say so much since a few wks now , i see so many broken promises from i r s , so that makes me wonder too much, as a person i would never undo a promise, i keep my word n follow thru, im just waiting again like i do,, if i open up facebook would you look for me it be peter james ok aka not my real name for good reason here k

          • Jess

It will come, my mother already has hers. A lady at my group is scheduled for April 27th. Sure I’ll look you up next time I sign on
