Supplemental Security Income Recipients, Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department in early May. People receiving SSI benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Your Information section to provide their information. SSI recipients who have dependent children and did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Tuesday, May 5, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If people in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200 only. They would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge SSI recipients with qualifying children and who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Lastly, a word of caution. Be aware of scams related to the Economic Impact Payments. There is no fee required to receive these payments. Don’t be fooled.

I have a question, to anyone reading this my son is 27 yrs old and has down snydrome. He receives SSI and I am his payee. I also received SSI but I do not file taxes so I don’t claim him as a dependent. Will he get a stimulous check also? Thank you.

    • Sheila

Yes both of you will. All of us SSI/SSA recipients will get ours beginning of May. Probably included with our regular money. Reason being is that Trumposo only wanted the money to go to people who were working. Democrats stepped up to the plate a week or so later and insisted we should also receive the money. Had to get approved despite Trumposo’s resistance. I’m still not going to vote for Biden, because he is a Republican pretending to be a Democrat. He has the same plans that Trumposo is using. Same bs, but a charming attitude. I’m voting Green Party because their plan helps us. The Democrats sold out to help the rich and corporate leaders. Green Party will help us seniors and disabled.VOTE GREEN

Hi, Sarah. Treasury, not Social Security, will be making direct payments to eligible people. We cannot determine eligibility. Please visit the IRS Economic Impact Payments Information Center to answer your questions about eligibility, payment amounts, what to expect, when to expect it and more. Hope this helps!

My spouse receives social security disability I don’t receive nothing I don’t have income do I qualify for stimulus payments

    • A.C.

Hi, Russell. Treasury, not Social Security, will be making direct payments to eligible people. We cannot determine your eligibility. Continue to check the Internal Revenue Service Coronavirus Tax Relief and Economic Impact Payments page for updates. Thanks.

Why is the IRS asking for a pin if you haven’t filed taxes. Is this a cop out to not give people money.

  4. Chrystal H.

Haven’t gotten my stimulus coronavirus package yet. I also have 2 teenagers 17 & 15
    The older just turned 17.

who the fuck cares? WHY are you telling US?

    • Sheila

For dependent children you have to quickly file on this website to get the money allocated for them as well. Look read about it on this website there is a link.

Stop and go, hurry up, and wait. I get SSI, and I heard the alert to go file a non file online form, so I did, and I got an email to confirm my email, so I did. But I’m edgy and semi doubtful about everything, that’s what happens when the IRS and to the government can’t make up for mixing us up. I think I get my stimulus check along with my SSI benefits on May 1? But I’ll believe it when I see it.

    • Michael S.

Ooops. You should not have filed that.

      You’ll be surprised, for sure.

    • Dylan.

Is that how it is suppose to happen? I am praying so. My lil sis teuly needs this. And she recieves 783$ on the 1st every month. We are extremely confused as to if she can expect the money on the 1st or not

    • Kelly

My sister is in the same boat you are. She gets SSI and we went to the non-filers thing on it’s website. Filled out everything, got the email, and still no stimulus check. We are scared it messed hers up and she won’t get it at all.

It’s the 24th going on the 26th AND all in between. Direct Express card via Comerica Bank no longer uses routing or account numbers anymore. Cant access IRS sites for SSI/SSDI Get my payment Portal. Whole system in my opinion is shit. I’m in $10,000 and less catagory, They said we should get ours first, Nope. By the time I or we get ours we will owe all out to electric bill and water and insurance, That wouldn’t stimulate the economy!!! I’m not very happy at this point in time. I have no answers only questions. If anyone has any answers, Please let me know. Thanks signed Bewildered and Sad. GOD BLESS

No problem you’ll get it the same way. All of us SSI/SSA recipients will get ours beginning of May. Probably included with our regular money. Is your income from when you had a job? If it is then your money’s come from a different source because in your case you retired.

Us disabled folks won’t get ours until sometime the beginning of May. All of us SSI/SSA recipients will get ours beginning of May. Probably included with our regular money. I raised my son and my daughter by myself, until they decided they wanted to live with their dads, so I let them. So my son’s dad went and filled child support on me. I think its bunçh of BS. MY POINT IS, I
work my butt off. I gett the child support took out of my check, biweekly., So therefore I think I should’ve at least deserved the stimulus. Cause at least I’m trying. There’s deadbeat parents that run from their child support ? and got their stimulus. I’m not grippin because of the child support, I’m upset because I’m threw to the wolves when I am trying.

“The IRS said that non-filers who receive Social Security benefits should receive their rebates in their bank accounts next week, while non-filers who receive Supplemental Security Income or veterans benefits should get their payments by mid-May.” https://thehill.com/policy/finance/494655-irs-announces-deadline-for-social-security-va-recipients-to-get-stimulus

    • Dylan.

I know thisnis so discouraging. Are we ever going to get the money that is rightfully ours? ? theyre already talking about more stimulus funds and payments being sent out but me and my family have not even received the first one
