Supplemental Security Income Recipients, Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department in early May. People receiving SSI benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Your Information section to provide their information. SSI recipients who have dependent children and did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Tuesday, May 5, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If people in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200 only. They would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge SSI recipients with qualifying children and who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Lastly, a word of caution. Be aware of scams related to the Economic Impact Payments. There is no fee required to receive these payments. Don’t be fooled.

I really need to know way SSI and SSDI and SSA who are already in the system have to wait for payment for the IRS has information and they are already have express direct deposit cards for years

Do you know what bank has the go ahead on direct express cards ? It bank of america ! Bank of America is sitting on the stimulus payments ! And they will be sitting on our benefit to disperse to us ! Can you you all see how complex how the stimulus and benefits get on our direct express cards , Treasury has to send it to bank of america then that bank has to put it on the cards , then social security has to send it to that bank and again that bank has to get it on our cards ! Thats why its taking so long ! Bank of America is the issuer of direct express debit cards info i got from social security way back when !

what about in the beginning when they told SSI recipients and veterans to fill out the economic payment form if they didn’t file taxes in 2018 or 2019?. I have not heard them say anything about people who did as they were told early on when this fiasco first started being one of those people who did fill out that form and give my bank routing number and other things that the irs.gov website asked me for is not going to get me my check any sooner….. Which it should because that’s what they told us to do early on, and that’s what some of us did early on. Why haven’t they mentioned anything about that….
And why hasn’t anyone questioned them about that? For those of us that did that, like they told us to do early on ( SSI and veterans),would someone please address that for us we exist as well somehow I feel like we failed on a black hole somewhere because absolutely there is no mention of the people that were told to do that early on as I stated before.
    Thank you so very much.

  6. Elizabeth C.

My husband and I have no dependent children. Both of us are on SSI we don’t file taxes.
We aren’t required to do that.Do when will we receive the stilus check?

I don’t think it fair to give my kids money to back child support. The money is for to support my kids that lives with me. Not for my back child support. I understand if I was filing taxes. That’s different.

    • American

What do you mean it’s not fair?
Back child support means that you weren’t man enough to take responsibility for your financial obligations and if you don’t pay it keeps adding on more..your kids that live with you are not Entitled to it!

  8. Michael

This is bullshit people on ssi or ssa should have gotten it the first round we under the 20000 braket so wtf

    • Amber

      I’m still waiting on mine

This won’t come as a comfort to anyone.I receive ssi/ssd.And we are all not illiterate. Some of us may have gone to college. And some of us may also have worked.Thank you to the agencies and senators. That advocated for SSA beneficiaries. To receive stimulus checks.Within the past 24-48 hours. Many of my neighbors. Some on ssi/ssd have received their stimulus payments.Ahead of schedule.Yet,a majority of us are sitting here.Frustrated in the dark. For when we will aquire our stimulus payments. Why are some on ssi or ssd receiving their stimulus payments ahead of schedule? And other’s not.I receive ssi/ssd on a direct express card.I am tired of no agency.Giving remaining beneficiaries an exact date for their stimulus payments. The “Get My Payment”tool should be accessable to everyone. Not just select social security recipients and tax payers.Being given the constant answer.Somewhere between the end of April.Into early May is unacceptable. When your watching your neighbors on SSI.Get their stimulus checks within the past 24-48 hours.Dates for an exact deposit or check being mailed.Would ease many of our minds. And a date would also confirm to many their elgibility. Those on SSA benefits have suffered .Due to the corona virus. My laundrymat has closed. Many food pantries in my area have closed. And public busses in my area have stopped running. Some of us cannott access day treatment programs.Or counselling services.Since theyv’e closed down. And some of us may have children out of school.Or we may have partners that have lost their jobs.Enough is enough.Us remaining SSA recipients .That have not received their stimulus payments. We deserve confirmation. And exact dates for our deposits.

    • Mr B.

the people wno get payed the least get there stimulus payments first.that is how it is set up.

    • Waiting

Pretty sure the ones that got their $ but are on ssi/ssdi file taxes each year. Those that don’t wait.

      • Mike

I don’t file taxes and got me and my wife’s on Monday

  10. Robert L.

    • Christina J.
