Supplemental Security Income Recipients, Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department in early May. People receiving SSI benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Your Information section to provide their information. SSI recipients who have dependent children and did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Tuesday, May 5, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If people in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200 only. They would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge SSI recipients with qualifying children and who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Lastly, a word of caution. Be aware of scams related to the Economic Impact Payments. There is no fee required to receive these payments. Don’t be fooled.

Really. Congress did this. Trump couldn’t care less about the poor. Nevermind. Keep thinking Trump is for the little guy. Btw. Obama did give us stimulus check. Quit watching FOX and drinking Trump Kool Aid. Hell I’m convinced that trump supporters would let Jim Jones buy them a round of drinks at a bar in Jonestown

  8. karen b.

I’m 62 yrs. young and on SSI and get my benefits via direct express debit card. Am I going to get stimulus money automatically on this debit card? Thank for a response.

    • V.V.

Hi Karen, thank you for your question. Social Security retirement, survivors, or disability beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who do not have qualifying children under age 17 do not need to take any action with the IRS. You will automatically receive your $1,200 economic impact payment directly from the IRS. You should receive the automatic payments by direct deposit, Direct Express debit card, or by paper check, just as you would normally receive your Social Security benefits. Treasury expects automatic payments for Social Security beneficiaries no later than the end of April and automatic payments for SSI recipients no later than early May. We hope this helps.

I receive social security deposited to a green dot bank which is posted on a walmart debit card.
When will I receive my STIMULUS funds.
I have recently opened a new checking account with a bank very close to me.can I give you my routing #to make that STIMULUS credit to that account INSTEAD of green dot bank.? Social security office Does Note have this information yet.
What can I do.? If that transaction has already been done. I will just wait ‘, but I prefer it to go to my new account INSTEAD.
    Please respond . Ty.

    • Dan

At this point I would just leave it and have it deposited on Green Dot.. if you want to enter your bank info on its.gov that would work to but it may take longer

    • Jermaine w.

My name is Jermaine walker I’m from Indiana I’m on disability an I had a stroke to years ago that could have been death but it left me mess up body wise but I still pray to God he heals my body up but we haven’t received our simulus check but it’s going to the second stimulus check do we get both at the same time

    • Terri

What is the routing number and account number? No don’t. You are so opened to being scammed. Please don’t give out your personal info. It’s just a waiting game. It will come. Look on the bright side. You’ll get a check Friday regardless

    • Lepay S.

To risk not getting it, it would probably be best if you continue to get your SSI on your green dot card.
