We are committed to improving service to the millions of Americans who expect and deserve timely and accurate help from us.  This effort requires that we modernize our technology so we can provide our employees with effective, easy-to-use tools that help them do their job well.  As the COVID-19 pandemic has also underscored, we must offer additional online, remote service, and self-service options that you expect from organizations today.

While such service options depend on modern technology, many of our systems are more than 30 years old.  Thus, nearly two years ago, we initiated a multi-year Information Technology (IT) Modernization Plan to replace our outdated systems with updated technology that enhances our service capabilities.  We have updated this plan to build on the tremendous progress we have made over the past two years and to reflect input from public and private technology experts, our frontline employees, and most importantly, from our interactions with you.

This update enhances our focus on improving our services online, over the telephone, and in our local offices.  We are also committed to ensuring that the service options we offer are both secure and easily accessible.  Currently, it is too hard for many people to prove who they are to access our online services, which is why we have made improving our my Social Security account registration process a foundation of our modernization efforts.

We will continue to review our IT Modernization plans to make sure that they are flexible enough to keep up with rapid technology change and future customer needs so that we deliver on your expectations. I invite you to read our IT Modernization plan and the 2020 Update.

I want to know why we can’t talk to these commissioner and all these high government officials personally why can’t we write them an email because I’m getting so sick and tired of them saying all this stuff and it’s not even true you call and they don’t do nothing about it this is our money that we put in that we worked hard I need to file for Medicare for my son I can’t find a web page there’s nothing on there to even fill out an application I need to apply for SSI there’s no application to even file they say it’s our money well if it’s our money then why aren’t we getting it in the lowincome I’m getting tired of this bullshit with these people I’m so sick of it the government the state government they’re all a bunch of liars on over it. For once what is it somebody tell the damn truth is quit the lying and taking our money and put it around the block and it goes right back into the government’s pocketbook. The government is at is good for killing a family taking their money and Destroy them for everything that they worked hard for and then you’re left with nothing and broke and can’t get nothing because of these employees that we pay for work light through their teeth and everybody sticks up around them and make sure that they look good and the taxpayers are the ones that get shafted I don’t believe a word they say anymore.. I just want with belongs to me and that’s housing and that’s my Social Security money my medicare and medicaid that I deserve cuz I’m disabled and they’re trying to weasel their way out of the Medicaid to do a plus all the billions of dollars that goes through the state then you can’t get a damn thing they keep denying and then you get accused and blamed and everything else know it’s not going to happen no more. We the people are sick of the government stealing our money and then don’t give it to us you can’t wait to take it you want us to file taxes to take it so you can earn interest but then you don’t want to give it to us when it rightfully belongs to us just say the truth. They don’t have the balls to call you or to email you they hide and they probably get how much money a year then they wonder why there’s so many people homeless poverty this is not the land to prosperity it’s the land of the poverty.

is there a way to switch from spousal ss benefits to my own ss benefits? I am now 69 years old and would like to start collecting my own benefit amount? Perhaps this is something I need to do in person…whenever that may be.

    • Ann C.

Hi, Patricia. Since you are currently receiving benefits, please contact your local Social Security office to set up an appointment. Thanks!

I applied my retirement benefits on May 2020 thru online. But I haven’t got any responses. If your social security office is scared to open , you can try response by email. Were all employees got raid off?
I need live with my SSA benefits for living.
In California’s most of office including Department of Motor Vehicle and state office. City office keep opening with 6feet distance and wear masks and put sanitizer.
Also employees they protect by plastic shield. Why your SSA put our seniors worked whole life hard worked for U.S.A?
There’s millions seniors and disabled citizens got suffer and panic to live without support. Please be considered reopen as soon as possible. If you waiting end of Covid 19. We’ll be all homeless.

I am desperate to contact a person. I am trying to apply for SSDI. I applied online. I received a Packet after the date they said it needed to be returned by. I have emailed, I left a message on the voicemail of the woman who was handling my case. I have received no response. I tried calling the number, but it puts you through an endless circle back to the original greeting. I am trying to fill out the packet of 50 give or take pages, much of which I already put in my online application. Please help me. Please.

I can’t believe this. I want to contact Andrew Saul. Your information does not help. I have been trying to contact everyone. You can’t even leave a message. It is just a circle back to the original greeting telling you to press 1 for this or 2 for this. You have my email address. Please pass it on to Andrew Saul. I know he cares and would want to help. Please.

With the SSA offices not being open, you are now requiring critical documents to be mailed in for a birth year correction on a social security account instead of walk in service. Absolutely ridiculous! If the critical documents are lost in the mail, it creates an even bigger problem to replace them! Also, what is the turn around time for SSA to have a passport in your possession? Months? What if the passport is needed while in your possession-we’re out of luck, right?! This is a total disservice.

  10. Tracy D.

Definitely in need of a way for citizens to report unfair practices and failure to adhere to Federal Regulations for SSDI Benefits Application.
