Social Security Administration LogoKilolo Kijakazi, Acting Commissioner of Social Security, announced that we now offer people the choice to self-select their sex on their Social Security number (SSN) record. We implemented this policy change and the new option is now available.

“The Social Security Administration’s Equity Action Plan includes a commitment to decrease administrative burdens and ensure people who identify as gender diverse or transgender have options in the Social Security Number card application process,” said Acting Commissioner Kijakazi. “This new policy allows people to self-select their sex in our records without needing to provide documentation of their sex designation.”

People who update their sex marker in our records will need to apply for a replacement SSN card. They will still need to show a current document to prove their identity, but they will no longer need to provide medical or legal documentation of their sex designation now that the policy change is in place.

We will accept the applicant’s self-identified sex designation of either male or female, even if it is different from the sex designation shown on identity documents, such as a passport or state-issued driver’s license or identity card. SSN cards do not include sex markers. Currently, our record systems are unable to include a non-binary or unspecified sex designation. We are exploring possible future policy and systems updates to support an “X” sex designation for the SSN card application process.

What happens if they want to change their sex marker from day to day? How often can they change their sex marker? Will the SSA mail them a new SSN card everytime?

This will cost the SSA millions of dollars to mail the new SSN cards.

The lobbyist or special interest group only donated a few thousand dollars to the political officials campaign. It is costing taxpayers hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars.

How ridiculous is this. Offering this to s communtiy who is out of touch with reality. This only reinforces an incredibly ignorant notion.

      • Preston

Imagine offering a new card to everybody three times a year, ten times total, no questions asked. Can you imagine the chaos? The budget would collapse! Bread lines and communism! Oh wait, we did that in 2005 and nothing happened.

However, I sincerely hope that in 2005 you voiced your deep concern over the /potential/ collapse of American society due to making it easier to get a new SS card, cuz if you saved that indignation and distaste for a 2022 rule making it easier for trans people…there’s a word for that.

    • Preston

As of December 2005, anyone with a SS card can change their names three times, and can get new cards ten times. This applies not just to trans people, but to everyone. I certainly hope you tore SSA up vehemently protesting on behalf of the budget when you and everyone else was given that right, because if you kept quiet then but saved your special outrage for a right provided trans American citizens in 2022, there might just be a reason. That begins with b and ends with -igot.

      • Preston

Correction: The 2005 determination merely limited how often you could change your card in one year, which was three times, with a lifetime limit of 10. I still hope you were as deeply concerned about the budget in 2005 and since. Imagine the chaos of every single American asking for 3 cards a year, ten in a lifetime! We might not have been able to run our multiple failed proxy wars, and what a tragedy that would’ve been.

Yes I’m being sarcastic, but the subject matter demands it. Do you really think that 1.4 percent of a population that is generally reticent about revealing itself is going to topple the SS card budget extravagantly outspending women changing their names due to marriage or divorce, adult children being adopted or returning to a different parents’ name, and people losing their wallets or misplacing their documents when they move? Or is there another reason every shadowy terror you have right now leads back to the scary, spooky trans people? You don’t have to answer me, but give it some thought when you’re listening to your favorite talking heads. Why do they want you so afraid of people who’d just as soon never meet you and almost certainly would cross the street to avoid a conflict? People who you’re so unlikely to meet that in a crowd of a hundred you might catch sight of a single one walking by?

There are two genders – male and female. God made us all that way. No other animal on earth tries to be something it isn’t

    • Cindy M.

      Amen

    • Preston

I just googled “how many animals change their genders” and the smallest number I found on the top 20 sites was is 6, the largest and most common number being 11. Several sites include the interesting correlated info that 1,500 animal species exhibit homosexual behavior and that several, like giraffes and koalas, are much more homosexual than heterosexual. PBS has a fascinating map which I’ll try to link here that references the number of human cultures which have more than two genders: https://www.pbs.org/independentlens/content/two-spirits_map-html/

This is because among humans, gender is not sex. Gender is cultural and social and a construct of history, mythology, and anthropology. There’s also the biological third gender of “intersex”, what used to be called “hermaphroditism”, that has been identified holistically and also as an amalgam.

In conclusion, I agree with you. Animals on earth (including us) don’t try to be what we’re not. We’re being what we are, and sometimes that’s transgender, a biologically opposite gender, or an intersex gender that incorporates some of several.

Why is the woke obsessed with sexual “felt” identity, sexual preference, pubic identification of preferred private sexual status, and commitment to enforce their choice on children who lack maturity and critical thinking?

    • Preston

Why is the man obsessed with having stubble and the right sexual organs and a deep voice? Why must he force them on those not like him? Can he not publicly make drag queens and cis women more comfortable by shaving his chest, wearing lipstick, tweezing, donning a dress, and putting on heels and fake breasts?

For that matter, why must he force his post-pubescent testosterone-drenched scent, that cologne his wife likes, on the kindergarten class he teaches? It’s all right there, disgustingly exposed! Little boys having male adult heterosexuality shoved in their faces! Little girls being gazed upon by a male sexual being who, when asked about the picture on his desk, admits, ADMITS, it is a woman he has sexual relations with! Perhaps he doesn’t speak the words, but they must know, because between the two of them in this family photo, there are the spoils of their coupling: /children/. Perhaps she’s even pregnant. They could be holding hands!

Not in my town, I tell you. Time to call the school board and get that pig suspended. Not only is he making the cis women and drag queens uncomfortable, there’s too much chance that he’ll enforce his choices on people who lack maturity and critical thinking.

Totally ridiculous. This just reinforces behavior and decisions that most will live to regret. Follow the science? Too many have now become gods, in their own minds. That has never worked out for previous civilizations.

May God have mercy on us.

Social Security gone woke. What a shock. 🙄

  6. Renny M.

This is ridiculous. If people feel that they are trapped in the wrong body, then let them do what they need to feel better about themselves, but do not bow down to this wokism. Please, reverse this policy and if you want to do something constructive, then offer free mental health counseling to help them live in society around people who may feel differently from them.

    • Cindy M.

      Great suggestion, I agree.

    • Jim M.

Shame on you, You can sit there and type all you want about people that struggle with who they are. Tell me, how Is this going to hurt or affect you in any type of way? I think it’s great! I have many transgender friends that are amazing people with corporate jobs and a normal everyday life, and you say they’re mentally challenged and they need help? Maybe you’re the one who needs help! Empathy for others has obviously vanished and it’s appalling. You should never judge anyone until you have walked a mile in their shoes. With that said, shame on you for not being kind to Other people because they are different, in the end we are all human, Everyone has struggles. Just like you and I! All any of us are trying to do is live our lives to the best that we can and make it through make it for no matter what because it because in the end we’re all human I’m human and you should accept your fellow human beings and not be so rude and hateful and hateful without being said I’m done with this. I could go on and on but it won’t change your mind,it’s too closed off to accept any other people that are different than you.

      • Preston

Thank you. I’m trans and believe me, I wish to my bones that I could just “be who I am” and “leave everyone alone”. It’s /society/ that demands I show my papers and do up my clothes and body and act a certain way and respond to constant gotcha questions and purity tests and subject myself to questioning and demands for intimate inspection and questions they’d never ask anyone else, and otherwise match how they think the gender I say I am should act. Pay fees and go to therapists and doctors and stand before judges and travel all over the state, everything on my own dime, so I can have the same state ID and passport and birth certificate it took them an afternoon and a few bucks to get, and then blame me for how much it cost. It’s the people outside the cage of the zoo that demand I contribute just as well as they do as a member of society– while at the same time calling me mentally ill and a freak. It’s those people who seem to have forgotten that ‘we the people’, including the racial and gender reinterpretations within amendments, including those with disabilities, never excluded ‘freaks’ from ‘the people’.

Even if I am a freak, an unkind but perhaps accurate name for one and a half percent of the population, I’m still a citizen. I still deserve the ability to participate in this bureaucracy, however convoluted, to gain the right to ID that permits me to vote and drive and get a job. People who deny that right need to actually read the Constitution and its interpretations over the years instead of just putting it on a bumper sticker or using it as a profile pic.

  8. Forrest G.

Studid is as stupid does !

  9. Gene

This is totally asinine. Waste of time and money.

    • Lily

Thank you for affording some dignity to transgender folk.

  10. Phil S.

This is just another ridiculous “woke” policy issued by our “out of touch”federal government that is leading us down the road to a ruined nation. Shameful waste of time and money on such rubbish.
