Today, the Social Security Board of Trustees released its annual report on the current and projected financial status of Old-Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI) and Disability Insurance (DI) Trust Funds.

The combined funds reserves are projected to become depleted in 2035, one year later than projected last year, with 80 percent of scheduled benefits payable at that time. The DI Trust Fund reserves are estimated to become depleted in 2052, extended 20 years from last year’s estimate of 2032, with 91 percent of benefits still payable.

As always Congress want do anything until it’s too late..the social security will get the same treatment like the government funding situation kick the can down the road…just wait until the time comes when those nice monthly checks get stopped due to lack of money ..yes social security says they can pay 80 percent or what ever who determines who in the 80 percent gets a monthly check..sounds simple but you can bet the people repubs demo socialist students survivors disabled will get the shaft.. while the fat cats argue on how to fix this..yea I contact my house and Senate rep no luck on getting things done . One this issue we need cross isle cooperation..we all get together and march on DC with 2 or 3 million people then e mail the house and Senate continuously like spam.you delete me we keep the email on this situation coming..that’s my take .all stick together or we will all fall separately.. Enjoy the check they will soon get interrupted

So if our funds will be depleted does that mean we will not be able to collect.
So what about the money we have put in already can we get a refund. I know its not being used for loans and if so i hope the money is being put back in. You guys keep raising the age. Why its my money, and its collecting interest i should be able to collect it at age 65 if i want to… thats what its there for. I feel you are being unfair to us americans already. We need someone to oversee what is being done with the social security funds. its time we see whats really going on.

Raise the ceiling! The simplest way to make SSA solvent for much longer into the future. Why hasn’t this been implemented by now?

Social Security paid me 1/2 of what I should have gotten for 4 years. I lived in poverty for a disability they took 3 years to verifiably document. I could not afford to get the help I needed. In the end they paid me back what I was due but not damages, penalties or interest. I am still suffering from their mistakes at age 70. Unemployed and about to loose my home. The prolonged agony and suffering I experienced killed me.

I agree, Social security is paid by working USA people of this country. If you didn’t pay into it, you don’t get any period.
There should be a fund other than our SSAN to drain.

Can I create My social security account while I am overseas?thanks

    • Donnie B.

What about the 2 times congress supposedly borrowed money from the SS Fund, if that were paid back with the interest I’m sure there would be plenty of money in it to continue payments. As is with all of the swamp, crooks abound.

      • ATD

The only ones draining our Social Security is the US government. When will these borrowed money, be paid back!?
