Protecting Your identity is Important to Us

Social Security is committed to protecting your identity and information. We often say that our online services are convenient, cost-effective, and secure to use.

We know that in certain instances, like for victims of domestic violence, completely blocking access to your information may be necessary. If you are a victim of domestic violence, Social Security may be able to block access to the electronic record we keep on you. Our online Block Electronic Access service is a resource for those who need extra security. It’s also available to certain victims of identity theft.

Through our online Block Electronic Access service, you can block any automated telephone and electronic access to your Social Security record. No one, including you, will be able to see or change your personal information on the internet or through our automated telephone service. If you block access to your record and then change your mind in the future, you can contact Social Security and ask us to unblock it.

It is an unfortunate reality for many Americans that guarding against the release of your personal information sometimes becomes a necessity. If this is the case for you, or someone you know, Social Security can help.

In most cases your Social Security number is with you for your lifetime, but when evidence shows you are being harassed, abused, or your life is endangered, we can assign you a new one.

For more information please read our publication, New Numbers for Domestic Violence Victims. You can also visit Protecting Your Social Security Number from Identity Theft for ways to help us safeguard your information.

  1. Can someone tell me when Medicare will stop using Social Security numbers on the card? We are told to not carry our Social Security cards with us, but the Medicare cards use the very same numbers.

  2. hi , i like the idea to be protected i created an account and forgot my password , and i have not be able to log back unto my account

    • Hi Fermina, if you are having difficulties with your personal my Social Security account, please call 1-800-772-1213 for assistance. After you hear “Briefly tell me why you are calling,” say “Help Desk” for help with a my Social Security account. Thanks.

  3. Is this article supposed to make me feel safe? You say you are committed to keeping our information safe, but then say the only way to do it is to block access, so that I don’t even have access to it? Don’t you do anything to protect our information? Only if I am a victim of domestic violence or identity theft, then the SSA “may be able to block access to the electronic record we keep on you.”?? I don’t understand your statement that “It is an unfortunate reality for many Americans that guarding against the release of your personal information sometimes becomes a necessity.” Isn’t guarding my personal information ALWAYS a necessity to the SSA? This article needs some serious further explanation.

    • Hi Susan, we take protecting the public’s personal information very seriously. You can rest assured that your Social Security records are confidential and that we do not disclose information about any individual to other agencies or private companies, unless we have proper authorization or consent. The article makes reference to our online Block Electronic Access service as a resource for those who need extra security. Thanks!

    • I hear ya Susan,
As I was applying for an account with the SDFCU in D.C. recently, I was told by them that I could not be electronically identified. When I called them to inquire why, I was told that I was not the only one using that number!! So, if I have to have my information ‘blocked’, how can I manage to find another institution to pick me up as a client since Merrill Lynch is dropping me due to FATCA??? Sometimes I really have to wonder about all this stuff. Now, as busy as I am trying to find a new home for my money, I am having to deal with filing all sorts of forms to various government institutions to prove my identity is being stolen.

  4. They have 4 years to change over to medicare cards without our social security number. According to link above that applies to new cards being issued, for the rest of us they have another 4 years to provide us with new cards, so it could take 8 years – not acceptable.

    • Thanks for your question Joanne! There is no legal requirement to change your name when you get married. You can show whichever name you would like on your social security card. However, if you decide to change your name, you need to tell Social Security so that you can get a corrected card. If you are working, also tell your employer. If you do not tell us when your name changes, it may delay your tax refund and prevent your wages from being posted correctly to your Social Security record. To see what documents you will need to change your name on your Social Security card, go to Social Security Number and Card.

  5. I had to change banks for my direct deposit. received an email fro SSA that the change was successful. then, I got a letter from them asking me to supply my address as they couldn’t find me?! How did the letter reach me? Then they wrote again and said they couldn’t find my new account but they put $123.90 of my SSA payment in my new account. And the rest is out there in cyberspace somewhere,. I tried to get on line but they would not accept my password. I called, but the wait was 45 minutes. What a racket!

    • We apologize for the inconveniences. Beneficiaries receiving their payments via direct deposit, must also make sure that we have their correct mailing address on our records, to prevent delays or disruption of their benefits. If you are having difficulties with your personal my Social Security account, please call 1-800-772-1213 for assistance. After you hear “Briefly tell me why you are calling,” say “Help Desk” for help with a my Social Security account. Sometimes we experience higher than normal call volume. Generally, when calling our toll free number at 1-800-772-1213, you will have a shorter wait time if you call later during the day or later during the week. Our representatives are available Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sometimes, it might be best to visit your local Social Security office for further assistance. We thank you for your understanding and for bringing this matter to our attention. Please try again.

  6. “Social Security is committed to protecting your identity and information. We often say that our online services are convenient, cost-effective, and secure to use”. Thanks for that. I wonder if the scammer that stole my identity was able to get social security benefits under my name? If they did, I would love to talk to them and find out how they did it because trying to file for benefits the right way has never worked out. “Tony”, the person that post here all the time is correct in a lot of what he has to say. It may upset a bunch of people, but you all know that he is right in what he is saying.

I am 45 years old, a mother of three older children and physically disabled ( I was born with cerebral palsy ). I’ve never collected one red cent of money from the Socialist Security System, even though I have applied several times and they find me disabled.

Technically, I am an “adult disabled child” (please look this up, it is NOT SSI or SSDI) but have never been able to secure any benefits whatsoever from the Socialist Security system, even under that program because I got married to an “Able bodied person”. The Socialist Security system is too busy paying benefits to some people who scam the system and worrying about adult disabled children (who they pay benefits to off of a parents record) marrying an able bodied person. This gives them the justification to cut off benefits to the adult disabled child because the husband (in theory) can now support the disabled person. This theory works great, if your husband is rich and you have no need for money but what it actually does, is to force two adults (one disabled one able bodied person) to live off of one income. In the real world, the socialist security system is forcing adult disabled children to only marry other disabled persons (and NO able bodied persons) at the threat of loosing any and all benefits that they are entitled to.

If you are a physically disabled person (an adult disabled child) and you happen to marry an “able bodied person” you will be loosing out on a lifetime of benefits, all because of a one word “rule” that prohibits you from marrying an “able bodied person”. Best of all, they never tell you about their “Rule” so that they can justify cutting off any benefits that you may be due.

Because you are physically disabled (adult disabled child) and you choose not to marry another adult disabled child or disabled person drawing off socialist security, you WILL LOOSE ANY AND ALL BENEFITS FOR LIFE. This means that the SOCIALIST SECURITY system is TELLING YOU WHO YOU ARE ALLOWED TO MARRY and who you are
NOT ALLOWED TO MARRY! It is a discriminatory act “rule” and should be ILLEGAL!

Even though I am permanently and totally disabled, if I marry an “able bodied person”, somehow that marriage makes everything ok and I am no longer considered disabled (in the eyes of the socialist security system). Magically (because I married an able bodied person), the pixie fairies come down and cure my disability, because now I can just go out and find gainful employment, no one will discriminate against my physical disability and everything will be grand, right? Somehow magically, marrying an able bodied person makes my physical disablility dissappear and now I am cured, right? WRONG!

The issue is a special “Rule” that the Socialist Security System uses to discriminate against “certain” people. If you are a “physically disabled person” (AKA-certain people) and happen to marry an able bodied person, then the SOCIALIST SECURITY system will use special “Rules” to legally discriminate against you and deny you benefits, even if you appeal online.

The SOCIALIST SECURITY system has caused me a lot of economic hardship all because I married an able bodied person. The SOCIALIST SECURITY system thinks someone who is physically disabled (permanently and totally disabled) marries an “able bodied person”, that somehow magically they are cured of their physical disability and two people can survive off the able bodied persons income. WOW, talk about a bunch of bureaucratic idiotic thinking, that somehow this would not cause a financial hardship….. amazing.

The rules that the Social Security Administration uses to legally discriminate against persons who are “Adult Disabled Children” who happen to marry an able bodied person, are discriminatory. This is loosely referred to as the “marriage penalty” but I call it exactly what it is, a legal form of discrimination.
I firmly believe this rule, is an act of bias, prejudice and discrimination against people who (by no fault of their own) are born disabled and happen to marry an able bodied person

Please write your Congressional Representative and tell them to end this modern day form of Legal Discrimination. In this day of fairness and equality, there are still some people suffering from an outdated and oppressive bureaucratic rule.

(PS. notice how the only thing any of these SOCIALIST SECURITY workers ever say are quotes of the rules or processes, like a worker drone. They are unable to address any topics that fall outside of their rule books). Typical bureaucracy and bureaucratic responses, like trying to argue over lost change with a vending machine!

  7. I have been a victim of being joblessness and no water for irrigation”inspite of having good leaders of our country the difficulty for income also does exists.

  8. This is a very good site.I believe this effort by govt should continue with coordination with all like minded good goverenments of the world as it would help protect and understand various cultures and people who obey different country’s law .Thanks

  9. Talking about protecting your Social Security number is like letting the chickens out after the fox got in! The number one problem is every business, bank, doctor and anyone else that you have bought somethingfrom has your SS#. When SS was brought into law, it stated the SS# was not to be used for identification, I guess somewhere the line our all knowing congress or potus changed the rule! Now everyone has access to our SS#!

  10. OR Insurance

Operating room (OR) bills are too high for working age surgery patients to not be insured for disability. Crippled for life is FDRs classic disability. It is not right that surgery patients, impoverished, unable to work, uncured or harmed by surgery are denied DI in the first year and SSI thereafter. I am writing to sue for disabiity in behalf of the many people who have reported being denied disability insurance after many years of severe post-surgery physical inability to work, in various blog postings at Social Security Matters.

It would seem that the surgery and hospital bills are so large and unreasonable that they are stealing the disability benefits from their patients. The surgery bill seems reasonable on the surgeon’s face, but they are stalked by at least one ridiculous hospital bill that is not confidential. Denial of disability benefits for permanently crippled surgery patients is a legal injury.

The World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS 2.0) is a generic assessment instrument developed by WHO to provide a standardized method for measuring health and disability across cultures. WHODAS 2.0 captures the level of functioning in six domains of life:
    • Domain 1: Cognition – understanding and communicating
    • Domain 2: Mobility – moving and getting around
    • Domain 3: Self-care – attending to one’s hygiene, dressing, eating and staying alone
    • Domain 4: Getting along – interacting with other people
    • Domain 5: Life activities – domestic responsibilities, leisure, work and school
    • Domain 6: Participation – joining in community activities, participating in society.

The interview and scoring are however too complicated and impersonal to sympathize with the disabled worker and it seems more right to insure all surgery patients who have not been able to get back to work, and especially if they are not expected to be able to work for the next 12 months.

The term ”disability” is defined to mean the inability to engage in any substantial gainful activity by reason of any medically determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to result in death or which has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than 12 months as set forth by Sec. 223 of the Social Security Act 42USC(7)II§423.

  11. My husban has been getting a lot of threatening calls about that he owes money and if he doesn’t pay there gonna go after he’s taxes… I looked up this number and comes up as fraudulent number… He’s concerned because they have his social # if he puts a blockage on his ssn will these help or not??

    • Hi Angie. It is important that you take steps to protect your Social Security number from theft. If someone obtains your Social Security number, they can use it to get other personal information about you, including your bank or credit information. If someone misused your Social Security number to create credit or other problems for you, immediately go to and report the identity theft to the Federal Trade Commission. You may also want to contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and file an online complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center at

      • you did not realy answer her question, she asked if blocking his social security number would be usefull, i would say yes in his case, it will prevent samers to get a hold of his number from opening accounts etc..

  12. We are receiving voice mails from this number, 805-628-2725 stating that my social security case is being closed. When I called back it seemed like a scam because they only could identify my name thru my home number. Also connection was bad and person had a foreign accent. The phone number was 805-628-2725.

  13. OR Insurance!!!

You have deleted OR Insurance from this blog. There are FDR look-a-like disabled workers, in wheel chairs for many years, after undergoing surgery, with at least one count of unlawful Unauthorized Access to Stored Information (hacking) under 18USC§2701 to add to their invincible case for deprivation of relief benefits 18USC246 against SSA. SSA must do the obvious and pay “FDR impersonators” although they went to the hospital, got a reasonable surgery bill, and were stalked by a ridiculously discriminatory hospital bill, whereas The term ”disability” is defined to mean the inability to engage in any substantial gainful activity by reason of any medically determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to result in death or which has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than 12 months as set forth by Sec. 223 42USC(7)II§423. International Classifications of Disability, Functioning are a waste of time if they are to be disrespected.

The hospital bill is the identity theft and bribery of government funds the ACA is looking for. The President is obviously under the influence of theft and bribery of government funds in regards to his misdiagnosed “war of attrition” regarding terrorist hospital bill financing, unlawful health insurance subsidies. SSA benefits suffer from attrition, more than 1,000 beneficiaries die annually, but we are pretty sure the violence and some theft come from US v. Burwell and such talk is incitement of extreme unprofessionalism and militants. Did the knife convince you to also cut of your disseminated intravascular coagulopathy (DIC)? If your DIC isn’t there, I’m not here. This record is a waste of time. Please put the original OR Insurance back in this blog, if possible.

The President has just gone out into the community, on an armed meth and crack addiction and narced up an Indian-American tax extortion scam to mock the non-violent marijuana offenders and innocent people due compensation under Art. 14 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and . SSA needs to redress this hacking of SS matters in the same way they wrote several articles after the Labor Secretary boomed and hacked, to get away. Timber. Hacking is a crime. The record should not be tampered with because you’re accosted by a fifth amendment drinking criminal prosecutor off the public record in violation of the 6th amendment, SS matters has my email address and knows I’m papa Tony when it comes to protecting the true national accounts of SSA and the WHOMB. I am working to make sense of medicine.

Colvin and Inspector General’s fascination with overpayments is so unprofessional that the uninterpreted statistics are thought to include the military and maybe all IRS overpayments. SSA divinely prosecutes the deprivation of relief benefits 18USC246. That Colvin is a Congressional sinner in regards to overpayments does not elect her Commissioner. A hacked up identity theft blog posting is not stable platform. Elect me or devise a longer per curium blog posting of your own liberation.

If you are going to stalk about identity theft you have to redress the theft of the captive audience to the satisfaction of King et al v. Burwell (2015). There was a hereby thwarted attempt to hack Sec. 5 and 6 of the Social Security Amendments of January 1, 2016

    Sec. 5 ACA Streamlining

To protect Streamlining of procedures for enrollment through an Exchange and state medicaid, CHIP and health subsidy programs 42USC§18083 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and repeal the rest of Subchapter 4 Affordable Coverage Choices for All Americans Parts A & B 42USC§18071-18084 in order to abolish the refundable premium and cost-sharing reductions for the relief of the Treasury budget by profitable health insurance corporations from January 1, 2016.

Sec. 6 2.5% health annuity reimbursements

To legislate a 2.5% health annuity for the ACA and other private health insurance corporations to credit customers with the difference between the new 2.5% health annuity rule of January 1, 2016 and the 20% ACA premium increase and cruelest and most unusual 50% Medicare part B inflation in premium price, ever, it seems best to amend the Amount of Premiums Section 1839 of Title XVII of the Social Security Act 42USC§1395r(a)(1) The monthly actuarial rate for enrollees age 65 and over shall be equal with all people who would otherwise be eligible for Medicare Part B because they are Old Age Survivor Disability Insurance (OASDI) beneficiaries. The premium is designed to afford one-third of the total of the benefits and administrative costs estimated to be payable per capita from the Federal Supplementary Medical Insurance Trust Fund for services performed and related administrative costs incurred in such calendar year with respect to such enrollees and any credit due. (a) The inflation adjustment of the monthly premium of each individual enrolled is calculated at 2.5% annual inflation from the premium price of $104.90 in 2015 rounded to the nearest 5 cents, $107.50 provided social security beneficiaries receive a 3% COLA, the 6% COLA 2017 will cause premiums, that have had to be held harmless by the Treasury, to rise to $110.20 in January 2017 and increase 2.5% every year thereafter, provided there is a 3% COLA there is a 2.5% health annuity, this is not a variable proportion but fixed individual portions of inflation, as used in recipe and nutrition books (b) The SMI deductible was $147 in 2015 and will be $151 in 2016 and $154 in 2017, etc. The Drug benefit deductible was $320 in 2015, would be $330 in 2016, $340 in 2017, etc. In the Drug program the initial benefit limit and catastrophic threshold, rounded to the nearest dollar, of $2,960 and $4,700 in 2015 respectively, would be $3,034 and $4,818 in 2016, etc. (c) the 2.5% health annuity applies equally to all private health insurance programs, and health spending that must be reduced from the wildly high estimate of 17.5% to less than 10% of gross domestic product (GDP) by 2025.

Social Security Amendments of January 1, 2016

  14. Moderation? SS matters is pretending to be seized by the press but it is probably the illiterate lawyers from the disability blog posting. I suppose the topic of identity theft can’t be processed without recusing illiterate SSA lawyers for a criminal conflict of interest with the author. For instance when I was nearly dead from the ALJs heart attack and psychiatric kidnapping in 2008 three Ohio ALJs were appointed with my written petition. A more equal example of their crime of this day would be to describe how after talking to an SSA lawyer they removed the go to college sign form the local office.

The legal solution that has perhaps erroneously been left out of the Social Security Amendments of January 1, 2016 is: To replace welfare Administrative Law Judges (ALJs) with licensed social workers and non-social worker representatives under Sec. 206 of the Social Security Act 42USC§406.

The naked aggression of SSA lawyers is evident. I however want to be a good boss. So as not to anger the lawyers by depriving them of their employed as defined as relief benefits under the current age and disability discriminating hacking of 18USC246 and give the legal profession a fair trial I have been contemplating how to deal with the lawyer ALJs without unfairly laying them off.

SSA ALJs would be literate licensed social workers. SSA lawyers would be available to represent SSA and the poor in state and federal courts, provided that they can write a Bachelor degree calibre brief for every confidential case and are able to sometimes write publishable statements to describe statistical or anonymous legal process. I believe these two articles should suffice for the President and/or Attorney General to overrule the injunction of an SSA lawyer hacking Social Security matters ad the Social Security Amendments of January 1, 2016 in violation Unauthorized Access to Stored Information (hacking) under 18USC§2701.

  15. We are often asked for our SSN by companies that don’t need it for financial purposes. They are just using it almost like an account number. I thought this was outlawed, but perhaps not?

    • Anyone can refuse to disclose his or her Social Security number, but the requester can refuse its services if you do not give it. Businesses, banks, schools, private agencies, etc., are free to request someone’s number and use it for any purpose that does not violate a federal or state law. Sometimes they will issue a different number if you ask.

  16. I am going through a divorce, and my husband wants my disability records to find out why I was put on disability. Is that legal? Can I refuse to give the records? He would like me to go to another doctor to see if I’m really disabled! Do I have the right to say no? He is just trying to be hard to get along with, hence the divorce

You got it right on Diana
And just a small point with this when to ride a city bus in Minneapolis /St. Paul + to get one of the reduced fare payments you must show your Medicare card and another type Of MN ID to get it.
So and if you lose your wallet or purse with all of numbers on them and the wrong person gets it you are in big trouble
Medicare cards use the very some numbers and this put us at risk.
And this is just a small part of it.

  18. When providing a temporary password for someone trying to access their SSA account, you should eliminate zeros and the letter o as they look too much alike. The recipient of that password has to make numerous attempts to get the password right. Also, the number one and the letters l and i also look similar.

  20. Mood disorder —or —-bipolar —-other —————————————————————————————-
Mood congruence is a type of recall biased mood congruent memory, not to be mistaken with mood-dependent memory, where an individual’s current mood or affective state determines the affective association of the memories that are recalled.

What does it mean to be congruent in psychology?
Carl Rogers believed that for a person to achieve self-actualization they must be in a state of congruence. This means that self-actualization occurs when a person’s “ideal self” (i.e. who they would like to be) is congruent with their actual behavior (self-image).
What does it mean to be incongruent?
in·con·gru·ent. adjective. The definition of incongruent is not the same, not compatible or out of place. When you take one position on something and then a second later you take a contrary position, this is an example of a situation where your statements would be described as incongruent.
What is Carl Rogers concept of congruence?
Rogers described the concepts of congruence and incongruence as important ideas in his theory. In proposition #6, he refers to the actualizing tendency. At the same time, he recognized the need for positive regard.
    What is incongruent communication?
incongruent communication. [inkong′gro̅o̅·ənt] a communication pattern in which the sender gives conflicting messages on verbal and nonverbal levels and the listener does not know which message to accept.
    What is a somatic delusion?
The fixed, false belief that one’s bodily functioning, sensation, or appearance is grossly abnormal. The somatic delusion has to do with thinking that your body is diseased in some way Sometimes these delusions include things like the idea that one’s body is completely infested with parasites (clearly untrue).
hallucinations (experiencing things that are not real) and/or delusions (believing things that are not real).
Incongruent means “conflicting.” ——OR—– By contrast, congruent means “in agreement.” —
Incongruent means “conflicting.” As such, mood incongruence implies that the symptoms conflict with the person’s current mood. Examples include:
    • Laughing when your dog dies
    • Believing you have super powers despite going through a major depressive episode
In each case, the actions of the person do not match either the situation or emotional state. The delusion of super powers, for example, in no way coincides with themes of powerlessness that are inherent in depression.
By contrast, congruent means “in agreement.” In this case, any symptoms, however extreme, are considered mood-congruent when they in agreement with the person’s current mood.
examples include: Feeling suicidal when your dog dies Believing you have super powers when you are going through a manic episode However unreasonable the response may be, they nevertheless match the circumstance or emotional state of that person at that moment.
    Congruent—means mood demonstrating(acting) and behavior demonstrating(acting) match —OR—incongruent—means mood demonstrating(act) and behavior demonstrating(acting) don’t match

Erotomanic – Delusion of a special, loving relationship with another person, usually someone famous or of higher standing. (This kind of delusion is sometimes at the root of stalking behavior.) Jealous – Delusion that a sexual partner is being unfaithful.,MORBID INCLINATION- noxious, vicious, grossly immoral, vicious temper, vicious Gossip, depraved, vicious deception,(profligate – ADJECTIVE wasteful, extravagant, dash, moral hazard- Disregarding accepted rules. Or ignoring societal standards)( To drive away; to overcome.)

    What is grandiose delusions?
A delusion of grandeur is the fixed, false belief that one possesses superior qualities such as genius, fame, omnipotence, or wealth.(ability level) It is most often a symptom of schizophrenia, but can also be a symptom found in psychotic or bipolar disorders, as well as dementia (such as Alzheimer’s).
What is a delusion in psychology?
A delusion is a belief that is clearly false and that indicates an abnormality in the affected person’s content of thought. The false belief is not accounted for by the person’s cultural or religious background or his or her level of intelligence 2014)
persecutory delusions are a set of delusional conditions in which the affected persons believes they are being persecuted. Specifically, they have been defined as containing two central elements:[1]
    1. The individual thinks that harm is occurring, or is going to occur.
    2. The individual thinks that the perceived persecutor has the intention to cause harm.
    3. Persecutory – Delusion that the person is being threatened or maltreated.
According to the DSM-IV-TR, persecutory delusions are the most common form of delusions in paranoid schizophrenia, where the person believes “he or she is being tormented, followed, tricked, spied on, or ridiculed.”[2] They are also often seen in schizoaffective disorder and, as recognized by DSM-IV-TR, constitute the cardinal feature of the persecutory subtype of delusional disorder, by far the most common. Delusions of persecution may also appear in manic and mixed episodes of bipolar disease, polysubstance abuse, and severe depressive episodes with psychotic features, particularly when associated with bipolar illness.

    Legal aspects[edit]
When the focus is to remedy some injustice by legal action, they are sometimes called “querulous paranoia”.[3]
In cases where reporters of stalking behavior have been judged to be making false reports, a majority of them were judged to be delusional.[4][5]
Treatment of delusions depends upon the underlying cause. It is important for practitioners to differentiate between delusions of grandeur and simple hopes for the future. A person, for example, who wants to be president one day is likely not experiencing a delusion of grandeur

A delusion of grandeur is the false belief in one’s own superiority, greatness, or intelligence.(ability level) People experiencing delusions of grandeur do not just have high self-esteem; instead, they believe in their own greatness and importance even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Someone might, for example, believe they are destined to be the leader of the world, despite having no leadership experience and difficulties in interpersonal relationships. Delusions of grandeur are characterized by their persistence. They are not just moments of fantasy or hopes for the future.

A delusion is a false belief that is maintained despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Beliefs associated with religion or with widespread social norms within a particular culture are not considered delusions, and beliefs based upon incomplete or incorrect information also do not qualify as delusions.

Mood-congruent delusions are directly related to a person’s current mood. For example, a person with depression may believe everybody hates them, while an individual experiencing a period of mania may believe they are famous. Mood-neutral delusions, on the other hand, are not related to a person’s emotional state.

adjective—The definition of grandiose is something that is grand or magnificent or something that is trying to be impressive but is much too large, making it seem pretentious or overdone. An example of something that would be described as grandiose is an excessively large mansion decorated in an overdone way just to impress the neighbors.

I don’t have a credit card so I can’t use the other security feature. The only computer I use to access the internet is a MAC. I don’t use my phone or any other type of device. 24. There is a number from Gratton ND 7019222423 calling saying they are an investigator from the social security administration. He gives his name as Mr Green and gives a badge number. The say my number has been compromised and that they will fix this problem. He is pretty good as a scammer. He hung up when I refused to give any private information. I’m hoping it is illegal to pretend to be from the social security administration. How do I report him.

    • Hello Dorothy. Social Security Administration (SSA) employees occasionally contact citizens by telephone for customer-service purposes. An SSA employee may call you in limited situations, such as if you recently filed a claim or have other Social Security business that are pending. In only a few limited special situations, usually already known to the citizen, an SSA employee may request the citizen to confirm personal information over the phone.
You may report that information to the OIG at 1-800-269-0271 or online via Thanks!

  30. How is the use of the social security number protected? I have spent almost an hour searching and found so many needless”pages” of info that I am giving up. A long time ago, I was told that my son could not be used for ID for anything but social security. Now it seems that banks, credit companies, and a host of others, are using it for identification. If you are going by what you first learned, you are denied.
