In April of 2021 I faxed in the required documents to change my direct deposit and payee information. I called to follow up and I was told that it will be taken care of. I heard nothing back. I refaxed and called on May 1, May 10, October 5 in November 5th along with many calls to my label office. I have all of my fax transmittal confirmations. I was always told someone had the paperwork and it will be taken care of and I never received a call back, update and said she’s still not resolved. I contacted the main social security administration and I was told they couldn’t help me I had to call my local office. I’m really need assistance, not sure where to go from here.

Your online info covers income limits based on whether you’ve worked the “entire year” of your Full Retirement Age, and also working “part of the year” of your Full Retirement Age. It also covers drawing benefits “before” your Full Retirement Age, but what it doesn’t address or explain is how to factor your income limits when you plan to work “the full year” prior to turning your Full Retirement Age, yet start benefits within that same year. I need to know specifically how much I can earn Jan-Nov 2021, and in addition, what I can earn in Dec 2021, as I’ll begin drawing benefits Dec 1, 2021. I’ve had it explained 3-4 times on the phone by SSA reps, but not in terms that make 100% sense, in part because they talk so quickly, assuming you’re “getting it.”. A black and white math example would be terrific to actually understand the formula and make it applicable to everyone in my situation. Thank you!

    • Vonda

Hi Mary, thanks for using our blog. If you are under full retirement age for the entire year, then we deduct $1 from benefit payments for every $2 earned above the annual limit. For 2021, that limit is $18,960. There is a special earnings limit rule for those that retire mid-year and have already earned more than the yearly earnings limit. The special rule lets us pay a Social Security check for any whole month your earnings are $1,580 or less and you did not perform substantial services in self-employment, regardless of your yearly earnings.

The Getting Benefits While Working web page provides more details.

You know for some people who apply for ssi and or ssdi they say they aren’t supposed to work. Which I understand but how are they supposed to survive go to shelter until they get approved, my state doesn’t offer income of anything at all while awaiting decision from social security. Some states are offering families universal income benefits but those aren’t for single adults. They need to design a working type program especially for individuals who have applied for both to be able to work within a set number of hours until they get approved for social security benefits like unemployment or workmens comp.

Having receiving only a letter denying my request for a social security card, on the November 2, 2021
date that I should have received my first of two monthly paper checks, before the activation of my new Direct Express card, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) not received, the burden of returning to me my > $16,200 life savings and $40 a day witness fees from 24 September 2021 until I have access to my social security income and savings or $250,000 FDIC insurance settlement or greater compensation, so that I can live on the interest of $1 million whereas social security is a failed financial institution, on my account of good work performed running for Public Trustee, without respect, or now that I am in the District of Columbia, any tax-free income or savings wisely and securely dedicated to insulting my intelligence, whatsoever, falls squarely on the <$200 million anti-trust settlement regarding the harmless cancellation of the +/- 14 percent 2020 payroll tax overestimate for the costs of merging hopelessly corrupt Netspend with the Direct Express monopoly.

Without any Public Trustees, and an embezzled applicant, the Social Security Administration cannot be trusted with the original documents they demand, after initially refusing the in-person office visit so that I could present my credentials to a conventional office, have my life savings returned to me and campaign for Public Trustee at the local DC office, after being closed out the national network during my trip across the country, due to COVID-19. To redress the denial of service in regards to my social security number, evident in the denial of a worthless social security card being used to justify borrowing or theft of valid and expired picture Ids, and the denial of service to my social security number by social security online, and also the fatal flaw in the automated phone reception at Netspend on 24 Sept. the Social Security Administration is fined for Fraud and related activity in connection with identification documents, authentication features, and information 18USC§1028, False statements and concealment of facts in relation to documents required by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 18USC§1027 pursuant to Civil Monetary Penalties and Assessments for Title II, VIII and XVI in Sec. 1129 of the Social Security Act (42USC§1320a–8) Pub. My name is Anthony and I am A US Marine Corps veteran. I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer February 2019. Not soon afterwards I started taking chemotherapy. Upon sharing this with the human resources department at West Central Georgia Regional Hospital, it was discussed with me that they would not be able to allow me to continue to work so I got laid off without pay. I completed this regiment in the spring of last year, allowing me to return.back to work, but earlier this year another Catscan revealed I had stage 4 stomach cancer. Upon expressing this to HR, I again was laid off under FMLA this time. June 2 2021 I received cytoreductive surgery (a fancy name for stomach surgery for cancer.) This has has left me physically disabled to work. I actually applied for ssdi approximately May 2021 but unfortunately I have not had a reasonable or positive response since. As far as I know I have submitted everything asked for, including medical records. I would at least like to know at what status my claim is and if there is anything else I need to. I have had no source of income from that time up to this point, but this does put my living arrangements in jeopardy.

    • Vonda

Hi Anthony, thanks for using our blog. You can call your local Social Security office for an update on your claim. Look for the general inquiry telephone number at the Social Security Office Locator. The number may appear under Show Additional Office Information.

The Acting Commissioner has a couple more snail mail days grace period before it will be she charged with stealing my life savings. http://www.title24uscode.org/netspend.pdf

The Secretary of State is informed that to comply with the Office of Management and Budget direction in the Summary of the President’s Discretionary Funding Request, dated April 9, 2021, the Department of Defense (DoD) is shifting funds that had previously been designated as Global War on Terrorism/Overseas Contingency Operation (OCO) to the base budget; 2USC§901(b) must be repealed pursuant to the Paperwork Reduction Act under 44USC§3508 that would also abolish the terrorist drive for Continuing Disability Reviews.

Acting Director of the Office of Management and Budget Shalanda Young, on maternity leave with 6 months exclusive breastfeeding duty, and Acting Commissioner of Social Security, are both referred to the Senate for confirmation. Acting Director Young or her temporary replacement Jason Miller will have to produce the repeal of the ONDCP in the Executive Office of the President FY 22. Less than an eight hour job.

Having been so poorly treated by DC, unless the President nominates me Public Trustee or the agencies pay for my work, I will not conduct another audit of the federal government until after the Appalachian Trail and 2024 election.

Hello😊 this is a very good idea listening to the SSD COMMUNITY. I am greatful 😀as others that we will receive an adjustment to our monthly deposits. I originally planned on having my own income due to my disability. At 68 now ive lost all normalcy in my life since my stroke in Dec 2017. In addition to my disability and sciatica plus the aging pains we all endure. 😟My wife had to quit working to care for me since my stroke. I cannot express into words how devastating its been and pray every night in thanks of living another day. Ive always been treated nicely by SS workers. And am very grateful 👍😀
I wish you all the best in health
