  1. Due to the current pandemic, can we create a mySSA account via phone if we are having trouble setting one up online? What if I need extra security? Can I do that over the phone?

    • Hi Jerry, thank you for using our blog. When you sign into your my Social Security account with your username and password, it will then ask if you received a reset letter. You select “Yes, let’s begin” . The reset code is issued when you need to change the second factor authentication method associated with your information.

If you forgot your password, and the password reset questions didn’t work, we can send a temporary password in some circumstances. Check out our Frequently Asked Questions web page for details on how to retrieve or change your username or password. We hope this helps.

A representative in the office will verify your identity and issue you a letter containing an activation code. Our field offices are currently closed. 3. I cannot set up my online social security account. I cannot put anything in the middle initial box because I do not have a middle name. It insists that I enter something in the middle initial box or it will not allow me to continue. What should I do. I’ve tried putting nothing in the box, N/A, a dash, and a zero. An online representative suggested using Safari instead of Chrome to fill out my application for my online account. I had the same results. I also tried using somebody else’s phone and filling it out on a laptop. No luck with that either. Somebody please help!
