I am trying to make an appointment to cancel my husband’s ss check which the funeral home probably provided to you. I’m entitled to his ss check because it’s higher than mine. I’m trying to make an appointment in the Melbourne Fl office. How do I do that? I have left my ph number 2 times but have not heard from them.

    • Ann C.

Hi, Diane. We are sorry to hear about your loss and your experience. Typically, the funeral director notifies us of an individual’s passing by sending the deceased person’s death certificate to their local Social Security office. You can schedule an appointment with your local office by calling us at 1-800-772-1213 between 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We hope this helps.

Where do I mail the application for Plan B, and the Voluntary withholding forms?

    • Ray F.

Hello Pamela. Some people get Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) automatically and other people have to sign up for it. In most cases, it depends on whether you’re getting Social Security benefits.
Most people should enroll in Medicare Part B when they’re first eligible, but some people may choose to delay Medicare Part B in certain cases. Click here to learn more.
      For additional information, see http://www.Medicare.gov.
If you want to change or stop your withholding, go to our Benefits Planner – Withholding Income Tax From Your Social Security Benefits. Thanks!
