Compassionate Allowances: Five Conditions Added to Fast Track

Processing disability claims quickly and accurately is important to us.  It is through this commitment to you that we use the Compassionate Allowances program to help us identify and fast-track cases where people have medical conditions and diseases that are most likely to meet Social Security’s standards for disability benefits.

In August, we added five conditions — Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumors, GM1 Gangliosidosis – Infantile and Juvenile Forms, Nicolaides-Baraister Syndrome, Rubinstein-Tybai Syndrome, and Secondary Adenocarcinoma of the Brain — to this essential list.  Additions to the list allow us to ensure that anyone with qualifying disabilities can receive the benefits they need quickly.

“Social Security’s top priority is to serve the public, and we remain committed to improving the disability determination process for Americans,” said Commissioner Saul.  “Our Compassionate Allowances program gets us one step closer to reaching our goals by helping us accelerate the disability process for people who are likely to get approved for benefits due to the severity of their condition.”

The Compassionate Allowances program quickly identifies claims where the applicant’s condition or disease clearly meets our statutory standard for disability.  Due to the severe nature of many of these conditions, these claims are often allowed based on medical confirmation of the diagnosis alone.  To date, more than 600,000 people with severe disabilities have been approved through this accelerated, policy-compliant disability process.  Over the last decade, the list has grown to a total of 242 conditions, including certain cancers, adult brain disorders, and a number of rare disorders that affect children.

We incorporate leading technology to identify potential Compassionate Allowances and make quick decisions.  When a person applies for disability benefits, we must obtain medical records in order to make an accurate determination.  Our Health IT brings the speed and efficiency of electronic medical records to the disability determination process.  With electronic records transmission, we are able to quickly obtain a claimant’s medical information, review it, and make a determination faster than ever before.

Please share the Compassionate Allowances program with friends and family who may need these vital benefits.

The SSDI SYSTEM AND PROCESS IS RUTHLESS AND WILL DRIVE ANY DISABLED PERSON BAD, if not to Suicide. The SSDI IME Dr’s and process are corrupt and antagonize you and blatantly lie in favor of SSDI organization. They even make the disabled person feel like a criminal and minimize their DISABILTY and Illnesses. It sounds like you personally care about helping people and needed to hear what really is going on with the system behind closed doors and at the front line. PLEASE TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT HOW THE SSDI ADMINISTRATION IS INEFFECTIVELY RUNNING . I most recently received my 3rd appeal decisions which I truly thought was going to be favorable bad on the compassionate and what We thought was a process ALJ at a remote HO , but of course they made up some excuse that didn’t make sense and decided on an unfavorable decision .SSDI process is unfair, unprofessional, dishonest, abusive , cowardly rollercoaster system and a nightmare to be put through, especially when you are so sick(with evidence) depressed, and worst of all saw your parent be refused of appropriate medical care , get murdered in-front of you due to of a COV death order that our governments higher up released on the elderly and those with chronic health conditions. There were many inhuman acts during end of March through May 2020 that I personal witnessed. SSDI NEEDS A REFORMATION ASAP. Please please make it a sensible and fair system. Don’t attack the sick while they are already suffering beyond belief. Thank you!

The Republicans can help white people. They will make cuts to SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, and Medicare. We need to make white people go back to work and make America great again. Don’t be lazy and collect disability.

For some Truly sick, It’s literally impossible to collect, that didn’t work for a city it government agency. Based on by recent findings and learning . The problem is that there’s discrimination based on occupation. If you are a civil, government or city working you can hurt your and automatically get 2/3 pay forever . However some with degenerative disease , almost deaf , has extremely concerning Neurological Difficulties (with MRI’s of proof of it) had other chronic diseases and suffered from sever chronic cluster mirgraines , no energy , and wished they could go back to there amazing , and very successful exciting career can’t get approved . Is that fair to you ? They SSDI system needs reformation and I mid they’d give me a chance and be patient with me and allow me some work accomadatons I’d be honored to help when I can and be part of making Ammerican great again. No one what to hire sick people that aren’t Quick and are unreliable because they don’t know what when there illness Episode will strike . But they are so quick to deny the really sick people , that are begging to have a real and meaning life with any purpose . They allow City works to Hurt a finger and go out on DISABILTY I definitely. How nice ! Please reply wit your thoughts . I think you are referring to this freeloaders right ?

My state disability retirement allows the government employees with a 10% workers compensation impairment rating to collect 42% state disability retirement who cannot do any state jobs. Most government employees don’t meet the qualifications for any other state jobs, so if they can’t do their own job due to the work related injury, then they are totally and permanently disabled and collect 42% state disability retirement for life.

The SSA has their law and regulations they must follow. You have to prove you meet those laws and regulations. Don’t go by your own interpretation of the laws and regulations. Look up the court’s interpretation. You can use Google Scholar to look up court case laws. Check case law and put the SSA commissioner name and your disability. It will give you a bunch of results. Look through the court cases to see what you did wrong. The evidence you provided was probably insufficient to prove you are disabled.

Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will do. I also believe my attorney was awful and didn’t do a good job defending me or providing enough evidence and I’m just exhausted and completely drained from was this process.

This is crap!! My husband was diagnosed with Cancer in February, he had to quit working on March 4th bcuz the chemo was making him sick. I filled out paperwork for disability for him and and they did put him on the disability list but they will not send any money until September. September!!! I can’t pay Bill’s on my disability check. How are we going to live,??How are we going to pay to have my husbands chemo,?? Are we going to loose our home,?? Omg!! I cant believe this is happening to us. I’m sitting here watching my husband die and there’s nothing I can do about it. Medicaid even gave me problems bcuz he was a white Male 58 years old, it took me 8 weeks to get him on Medicaid and I had to call to our lesion in Indy to help me, three days later he had insurance, do you see anything wrong with this,?? So you really need to redo the list of who is eligible right away and who needs more paperwork.!!

Can you break those big disorders down into? Common everyday language?

    Yeah….
Th a ts the thing these si called attorneys get paid anyway by the SSA…
Win or lose .. they don’t work for free.
Thats the dirty secret…..the file for fees by the lawyers…..look at your representative agreement closely.
The SSA direct deposited the fees requested in my case. . And I’m still fighting at the appeals council level.
But that dishonest lawyer was paid….!
    And by the SSA….
The SSA paid out millions to thousands of firms in 2018.. its all of record. And it certain many case where denied. The lawyers get paid anyway. Forget the pro bono stuff my lawyer said at the hearing…its in the transcript.. ..i was denied.. he got paid anyway.
The record is clear. It is an outrage.
